Hanna Rosin on the Prosperity Gospel and the Mortgage Meltdown

Hanna Rosin’s new article in The AtlanticDid Christianity Cause the Crash?– has a lot of helpful info on Rev. Ike-like Protestant cults that helped turn fatalistic Catholic Mexican peasants into financial high-rollers in America, with disastrous effects on our economy. She focuses on Fernando Garay, a minister and mortgage broker.

Now that I think about it, this explains a lot about why George W. Bush and Karl Rove were so convinced that the future of the GOP depended upon a combination of Hispanics and zero downpayment mortgages. As I reported about the lost 2002 exit poll that I retrieved and crunched:

Among Hispanics, for example, one-third of polled Catholics voted Republican. Among the one out of four Hispanic voters who were Protestant, however, the GOP won a small majority.

My lazy assumption had been that Protestantization of Hispanics would help them get rid of bad financial habits like blowing all their savings on fiestas, but it turns out that it instead means borrowing money they can’t pay back. If Cotton Mather were alive today, he’d be spinning in his grave.

Blowback from Invite the World / Invade the World

Adrian Blomfield of the neocon Daily Telegraph does a great job of giving the Ft. Hood shooter’s Palestinian cousins in Ramallah in the West Bank (Ramallah is the capital of the Palestinian National Authority) enough rope:

Speaking from their home in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Hasan’s relatives painted a picture of a man cornered into an act of “lunacy” by the repeated discrimination of his peers and an attempt by the army to force him to serve in Afghanistan.

“They discriminated against him because he was a Muslim,” Mohammed Mohammed, one of Hasan’s cousins, told the Daily Telegraph. “We’re not trying to make excuses for him but what we were told was that he was under a lot of pressure.

“What we imagine is that he could not take this bad treatment and gave vent unfortunately.” …

In the house next door, Hasan’s brother Anas had locked himself indoors with his wife, refusing to speak to anyone, including his relatives.

According to his cousins, Hasan was badly scarred by the deaths of his parents in 1998 and 2001. Along with his two brothers, he became increasingly devout, they said.

“They became very religious after their mother died,” Mohammed Hasan said. “They were very observant. They prayed a lot.”

Yet the two cousins insisted that the major’s religion was not tinged with political fanaticism, although they said he had become increasingly withdrawn and uncommunicative in recent years.

On The Other Hand, The Shooter May Not Be An Immigrant

Fox News has an interview with a cousin of the deceased shooter, Major Hasan, called Nader Hasan.

A shooting rampage Thursday afternoon at the Army’s Fort Hood in Texas killed 11 and wounded 31 before the gunman was killed and two suspects taken into custody.

All three of the people believed to have carried out the shooting were soldiers, Lt. General Bob Cone told reporters Thursday evening, though the motive remains unclear.

The shooter’s cousin, Nader Hasan, told Fox News that their family is in shock.

“We are trying to make sense of all this,” Nader Hasan said. “He wasn’t even someone who enjoyed going to the firing range.”

He said his cousin, who was born and raised in Virginia and graduated from Virginia Tech University, became against the wars after hearing the stories of those who came back from Afghanistan and Iraq.

Nader Hasan said his cousin, who was raised a Mulsim, [sic] wanted to go into the military against his parent’s wishes and was taunted by others after the terror attacks of Sept. 11.[Emphasis added.]
….

President Obama called the shooting a “horrific outburst of violence” on members of the nation’s armed forces. “It is horrifying that they should come under fire at an army base on American soil.”He said he doesn’t yet know all the details but promised the government would get “answers to every single question.”
…[Sources Identify Major as Gunman in Deadly Shooting Rampage at Fort Hood Fox News, November 05, 2009 ]

Note the bit about his father not wanting him to go Army, and him being “taunted” by family members after the September 11 attacks. Assimilation? Not hardly.

Immigrant Mass Murder Watch: 7 Dead, 12 Wounded at Fort Hood, No Word On Shooters

7 Dead, 12 Wounded reported at Fort Hood, Texas. No word on whether it’s an immigrant mass murder type thing, a terrorist attack, or what. I do know that most of the victims would have been unarmed, in spite of Texas’s liberal concealed carry laws. The reason? They’re in the Army. I wrote about the Fort Dix plot that

The Fort Dix terrorists could certainly have killed many more people than Cho Seung-hui, the Virginia Tech killer.

The Federal Government likes to claim that they have security in place. But Army bases are basically unprotected. Self-defense trainer John Farnam points out that soldiers on and off base are as unarmed as the students at Virginia Tech.

The soldiers may have a “Culture of Self-Defense,” but the Army’s fanatical insistence that guns be kept unloaded (even in parts of Iraq and Afghanistan) means that an attacker would have a lot of unarmed people to shoot at before he was overwhelmed.

Updates on the shooting will be found here and here.

For MSM, 9/11 Is about Anti-Muslim Backlash and Islamic Victimhood

“Backlash” against immigrants is a favorite topic of the liberal media to advance its agenda of bashing America and squashing any resistance to multiculturalism through intimidation and propaganda. When a Korean college student mass-murdered dozens at Virginia Tech, reporters quickly searched out Korean immigrants to uncover incidents of violence of angry Americans against Koreans in retaliation. Nada. There were none.

(See my various blogs about “backlash”.)

In fact, there are so few “backlash” crimes that the media has been forced to report on the “fear” of backlash, as if that were a valid subject for journalists.

Hey, I have a fear that hostile Muslim immigrants will set off a nuke in my city. Anyone over at the Associated Press interested in my deeply felt feelings? No?

We are now observing the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by jihadist Muslims who killed 3,000 people. Loyal Americans use the occasion to reflect on the loss of life and the stubborn enemy we still face. But in AP offices, busy adherants of diversity cooked up a formulaic, emotional propaganda piece about fearful Muslims cowering in their houses because of the “backlash” from mean-spirited Americans: US Muslims: backlash fear builds each 9/11 [AP, September 10 2009]

“There is the dread of leaving the house that morning. People might stare, or worse, yell insults.”

People staring and verbal insults? Oh, the horror!

“Prayers are more intense, visits with family longer. Mosques become a refuge.

Eight years after 9/11, many U.S. Muslims still struggle through the anniversary of the attacks. Yes, the sting has lessened. For the younger generation of Muslims, the tragedy can even seem like a distant memory. “Time marches on,” said Souha Azmeh Al-Samkari, a 22-year-old student at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Yet, many American Muslims say Sept. 11 will never be routine, no matter how many anniversaries have passed.

“I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every year,” said Nancy Rokayak of Charlotte, N.C., who covers her hair in public. “I feel on 9/11 others look at me and blame me for the events that took place.”

The Muslims interviewed are highly self-absorbed and not interested in the daily carnage racked up by their fellow religionists in the name of Islam. They would rather play the victim, despite their extreme inappropriateness for that role.

Muslim writer Shaila Abdullah mouths the message that the press promotes: “Muslims are a victim of the 9/11 tragedy as much as anyone else because our religion was hijacked that day.” [Austin author attempts to convey essence of Islam, post 9/11]

What a disgusting comment from an immigrant living a safe middle-class life in America. She is typical in that she wants all the benefits of this country and none of the responsibility for the flavor of diversity she espouses. The Koran and other Muslim books have plenty of admonitions to slaughter the infidel, which Muslims acted upon during 9/11. But she wants her religion to be regarded as the “religion of peace” — which it most certainly is not. The website TheReligionOfPeace.com has kept a detailed list and running count of Islamic terror attacks since 9/11 — now reaching over 14,000.

Forget Muslims’ bogus complaints; a 2006 FBI survey of crimes against ethic groups found that Muslims were underrepresented as victims, contrary to the propaganda. An Investors Business Daily piece summed up the findings in Hyping Hate Crime Vs. Muslims:

“In 2006, a whopping 66% of religiously motivated attacks were on Jews, while just 11% targeted Muslims, even though the Jewish and Muslim populations are similar in size. Catholics and Protestants, who together account for 9% of victims, are subject to almost as much abuse as Muslims in this country.

Last year’s anti-Islamic hate crimes totaled 156. While just one hate crime is one too many, that’s a 68% drop from 2001.

The FBI report gives lie to CAIR’s alarmist narrative of “Islamophobic” lynch mobs marching on mosques across America. In reality, Americans have been remarkably, and admirably, tolerant and respectful of Muslims and their institutions since 9/11.”

Unsurprisingly, there’s little MSM reporting about Jews’ reasonable fears about Muslim attacks on synagogues, even though there’s a lot of that going around. (One exception was the recent NY Post item about a kick-ass Second Amendment rabbi: Go ahead, make my high holiday.)

The dinosaur MSM is stuck on Muslims as victims and does not care that many of them despise western civilization and won’t be happy until we are either dead or brainwashed into their religiously tinged fascism.

DC Metro Crash And Outsourcing–Questions The MSM Is Unlikely To Ask

As most of you have probably heard by now, the DC Metro crash was possibly caused by a computer failure. [Computer Failure Could Be Cause of DC Metro Crash Killing ]That news got me and a few others interested if the DC Metro has been outsourcing work to India or bodyshops, and employing H-1Bs. The reasoning behind the research is that when employers are looking for the cheapest labor they often get what they pay for.

In the rest of this post allow me to share with you a surprising number of connections. They could be all coincidence at this point, and therefore have nothing to do with the crash.

Several previous posts have been published concerning President Obama’s appointment of Aneesh Chopra for Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Vivek Kundra for Chief Information Officer (CIO). Besides their obvious ethnic similarities, keep in mind that Aneesh Chopra led a large junket to India in 2006 to promote the outsourcing of Virginia state jobs. Read the previous newsletters on these two appointments to see how both of them have a long record of promoting the outsourcing of American jobs to India.Chopra and Kundra are definitely friends of India.

The following information isn’t in any particular order, and I think we should all be careful about what conclusions are drawn. Too little is known about the cause of the crash yet to blame any particular contractor so until more is known all of this should be considered circumstantial evidence. That said as a disclaimer, here is the stuff:

Primary contractor for the DC Metro is Optimal Solutions & Technologies(OST). Here is a link to the actual contract PDF

Vivek Kundra has many connections to OST. He was even on their board.

But that wasn’t the only reason Kundra put Optimal Solutions and Technologies in charge of nearly 100 subcontractors eager for a piece of as much as $75 million a year in technology contracts.

And what about the role of Optimal Solutions and Technologies, a D.C.-based company founded in 1999 by Vijay Narula?

Though allegedly Acar and Bansal violated city rules by regularly meeting and talking, Narula said his company, which has about eight employees assigned full time to the contract, was powerless to detect such behavior.[Federal Probe Casts Doubt on D.C. Contract Reform Effort - washingtonpost.com,  April 6, 2009]

Remember Sushil Bansal? He was the one that was arrested and jailed, and was the reason the FBI raided Kundra’s office. Acar has been charged with bribery.

OST is heavily involved in our transportation infrastructure. They even have an FAA Software Design and Development Services Contract. Vijay Narula is their CEO. OST’s contracts are some of the most important in the nation because they involve public safety, and yet it’s very difficult to find out where Narula was born–he is very much an enigma. Try finding his biography with Google, and get back to me when you find out something.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Awards an Information Technology Contract to Optimal Solutions and Technologies (OST, Inc.)

GRPA is another outsourcer that does business with the WMATA. They have offices in India, and perhaps they send some work there.

GRPA is a registered IT services provider to the state of Maryland, various counties, and other organizations like Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the World Bank, and several Credit Unions, etc.[GRPA Web Page]

GRPA is considered a minority owned business, which gives them a large advantage over other companies that want to win state contracts. The company name explains their minority status: G.R. Patel & Associates, Inc.

Chopra passes - GOP Senators fail.

Last month, contemplating President “Desi” Obama’s risky appointments of two young Indians to handle the allocation of huge quantities of tax dollars in the IT sphere I noted that Aneesh Chopra’s chief technology spot needed Senate approval:

Chopra, whose snugly connection with Virginia Democrats turns out - surprise! - to be financial rather than technological (He’s No Technologist, But Moves in Tech Circles By Ellen McCarthy The Washington Post Thursday December 29 2005) has to be confirmed by the Senate.

Will any GOP Senator have the courage to get commitments out of him on Outsourcing and H-1B abuse?

Answer: NO!

Chopra was asked just one question at his confirmation hearing, which was cheered on by Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.). Warner would have demonstrated better taste to have remained silent, given his financial links with the Chopra circle discussed in the Washington Post story above.

Senators focus on FAA, not CTO at hearing Jason Miller Federal News Radio May 20 2009

So huge patronage power is being given to two members of a notoriously self-seeking ethnic minority with no questions asked. The implication for employment of native-born Americans in this crucial sector is obvious. As I said last month:

If in fact these young men have brought traditional Indian attitudes with them will not be known for some years – never, if the sycophantic MSM has anything to do with it. But one thing is clear: by appointing two allies from a culture reeking with amoral familism, and saturated with ethnocentric discrimination, Obama has probably achieved his real objective: no founding-stock white men need apply here.

If Senate Republicans lack the courage to ask questions in defense of their core constituency – white men and their dependents – why should the latter bother to vote?

Danger: Indian Cronies at Work

A gushing story in The Washington Post today confirms what I suspected – the Indian pair to whom President “Desi” Obama has handed unprecedented influence over Federal Government Technology spending – are long-time cronies.

Aneesh Chopra and Vivek Kundra met nearly a decade ago as entrepreneurs in Northern Virginia’s Indian American business community. They worked together in Gov. Timothy M. Kaine’s administration.

Before joining Kaine’s cabinet, Chopra …served as president of TiE-DC, an organization of entrepreneurs of Indian heritage. Kundra had started two technology firms before Chopra recommended him for Virginia’s assistant secretary of commerce and trade, and later as the assistant secretary of technology. (VDARE.com emphasis)

“Nearly a decade ago”

…Hmmm. About the time Kundra was convicted of shoplifting – (he was 22 when he did this, not 12).

But at least they weren’t together when Kundra was supposed to be managing the corruption-ridden DC Technology Office.

Obama Appoints Aneesh Chopra To Be The Nation’s Chief Technology Officer

In case you haven’t heard, Obama appointed Aneesh Chopra to be the nation’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Now we have two Indian-Americans in two positions that will make decisions about which government jobs are outsourced to India, and which ones are displaced by H-1Bs. The other one of course is Chief Information Officer (CIO) Vivek Kundra, who has been mentioned several times in this newsletter. If Kundra’s name doesn’t ring a bell go here to read about him: Obama’s “Kunundrum”, By Rob Sanchez

I’m not sure why President Obama is bent on appointing Indians to key technology positions so much. In politics it’s always a good idea to follow the money trail, and doing so might help to explain that Obama’s prejudicial hiring practices might have a lot to do with the enormous amounts of cash and political influence that India is wielding in Washington DC. Or, perhaps Obama just feels that non-Indians don’t have the right genomes to handle technological issues. It’s an attitude that many policy makers seem to have nowadays. If you can think of a better reason for Obama’s most recent appointment, then let me in on it.

The most likely alternative explanation for Obama’s hiring behavior is that he is cooperating with India’s desire to plant their shills strategically in places that will help them to take over our country’s technological infra-stucture. If that sounds like a far fetched conspiracy, keep reading while I try to convince you that what is happening could turn into an international conspiracy and scandal.

These are just a few of the reasons that everyone should be concerned that Chopra and Kundra are now the nation’s new CIO and CTO:

  • These two positions aren’t trivial. Chopra and Kundra will have the decision making authority to throw billions of dollars wherever they want. They will also have a major role in determining which technology jobs are outsourced to India, and which Americans will lose their jobs to H-1Bs from India. Of course that will also give them power to determine which U.S. tech companies will survive. They will also make decisions about our education system even though neither one of them have technical career backgrounds. Folks, this ain’t good!
  • All of you know how tough it is to get jobs. Employers nowadays scrutinize everything about your education, experience, who you worked for etc. You could meet 9 out of 10 requirements and still they won’t hire you because you didn’t have the newest version of a technical skill they claim they need.

So, how come Obama hired a CTO that has no technical experience at all? Neither Chopra or Kundra are career technologists (although Kundra did get a degree in IT, psychology, and political science). Chopra never received an education in science, technology, engineering, or math. Chopra probably doesn’t know the difference between a transistor and a transformer, an Apple and a PC, and he definitely has never written one line of computer code. Chopra’s claim to technical virtuosity is that he got a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University.

So, why did Obama shun the technical giants of Silicon Valley to hire these unqualified cronies to lead our nation’s technology? Could it be that most of those that built Silicon Valley were non-Indian?

  • * Speaking of cronies, these two are very bad examples of political cronyism in action. While Kundra served in Washington DC as the chief technology officer (CTO), Chopra was Virginia’s Secretary of Technology. They were friends and business partners, and they both worked very hard to make sure that lucrative government contracts were sent offshore to India. There are other connections — like for instance Aneesh Chopra is a Harvard project partner with Vivek Wadhwa. I won’t dwell on Wadhwa in this newsletter since I have mentioned him dozens of times before, and because I have mixed feelings about who’s side he is on. Go to this web page to see one of the many Wadhwa projects that Chopra was involved in. It’s not hard to find them using by Google.
  • TechAmerica hailed President Barack Obama for appointing Chopra. They call it a “breakthrough for technology policy,” In case you haven’t heard of TechAmerica — they are a merger between some of the worst H-1B and offshoring lobbyists in the history of the attack on American middle class technology workers: AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association), and Harris Miller’s Information Technology Association of America (ITAA). It’s safe to assume that anybody they endorse is a champion of H-1B and offshoring.
  • Mr. Aneesh Chopra is hailed as a leader of the Indian American community and an active member of the USINPAC Leadership Committee. USINPAC is the obvious connection all of these guys have to the big money bags in India. If international conspiracy is involved, USINPAC is the U.S. command center, while NASSCOM and CII in India are puppet masters. Chopra and Kundra are their prized plants.
  • Aneesh Chopra may not call himself a lobbyist for Indian offshoring, but that’s what he is. Read this, but don’t be surprised:

“Not surprisingly, he is an avid supporter of opportunities for globalization and was well received when he led a Virginia trade delegation to India in 2006.”

If none of those reasons sway you, consider this: chances are Chopra is involved in the fraud and bid rigging scheme being investigated by the FBI. It’s just a matter of time before Kundra is connected with the two accused criminals Sushil Bansal and Yusuf Acar, and next in line would be Chopra. Inviting Chopra to the administration just gives the FBI another big target to investigate. If the FBI fingers either Kundra or Chopra, and it may be just a matter of time before that happens, Obama is going to have a scandal of epic proportions on his hands. Obama is taking a considerable political risk by allowing these two to be associated with his administration. The question is why?

19 April 2009

More Indians means more…(fill in blank).

Charging on from his rash reinstatement of Vivek Kundra as “chief information officer” despite serious questions, President Barack “I am a Desi” Obama has now come up with another young Indian to put in a position of immense power in the Federal Government IT world: Tech Industry Cheers as Obama Taps Aneesh Chopra for CTO by Amy Schatz WSJ Blogs April 18 2009.

Native-born white Americans, of course, lack the intellect for these jobs.

It appears that Chopra and Kundra worked together in the Indian-heavy Virginia Technology Secretariat. Normal business practice would incline against re associating these two, given the shadows over Kundra.

However, I applaud, because it gives me the opportunity to refer to a fairly recent story which seems to have sunk without trace in the MSM:

The Jackson $5 million? By Natasha Korecki The Chicago Sun-Times April 13 2009

asserts the recently-indicted Illinois Governor Blagojevich was told that in the interests of getting the contemptible Rep Jesse Jackson Jr., appointed Senator, there would be

$1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign fund that would come from Indian donors…Rajinder Bedi, a state employee who acted as a conduit to the Indian community for Blagojevich, sources say…met with the governor’s brother, Robert, to tell him that a longtime fund-raiser and wealthy health care businessman, Raghuveer Nayak, would help organize fund-raising within the Indian community….

Rajinder Bedi has subsequently quit – not a good sign - an event apparently reported only overseas.

Having Indians in positions of power ensures corruption – and ethnocentric discrimination. This may well prove to be the Achilles Heel of the Obama Administration.
