Indian Call Centers: Dangerous to your Financial Health

Two years ago, an alert VDARE.com reader raised the issue of the risks created by the increasing use of Indian Call centers by Financial Services companies, and followed it up a last year with a concrete example.

Earlier this year John Miano reported on a much bigger case, observing how little interested the US media were.

Now the enterprising British tabloid the Sun has triggered a huge uproar in the UK and India by ambushing a call center. In British bank customer details are “on sale in Delhi” [Phillippe Naughton The Times (of Britain), June 23,2005] we learn

“The Sun reported this morning that it had bought a list of 1,000 names and addresses with account and credit card numbers and other confidential details for £3 each. Its reporter in Delhi was told by the middleman who sold him the details that he could supply 200,000 identities a month… Sun reporter Oliver Harvey bought the list of names after going undercover posing as a British businessman. He had three meetings with the alleged middleman, each of them taped and filmed”

The British have been concerned with fraud in these centers for a while . A BBC report quotes a data security firm CEO making the reasonable point:

“The salaries paid to these people are not at the same level as in the UK.

That means that if somebody wanted to ask them to do something fraudulent, the amount of money that might be offered would have more of an impact on their life.”

This evening a Google News search indicates that, other than specialist computer publications, the only major US notice has been Bloomberg.com--because it is worried the cost savings anticipated by various companies might be jeopardized.

Does no one in the US media care about the American public?

Dreaming Of Enchiladas In Paris

A recent “migration” conclave in El Paso was a perfect opportunity for open-borders Catholic priests to strut their stuff and sound off about “reform.” But that word has undergone something of a reversal in meaning when preceded by “immigration, ” and the Binational Migration Conference was no exception: Cardinal Theodore McCarrick of Washington, D.C., shamelessly promoted an amnesty for the millions of Hispanic illegal aliens who are filling the Catholic Church.

“The church in the United States is very, very Hispanic and what a blessing that is. They (Hispanic immigrants) come with the values that are so needed in the United States today. When there is a moral issue that concerns so many of our people, we have to speak,” McCarrick said, alternating between English and Spanish. “This is a special moment in the history of the Catholic church and the history of migration.”

It’s the height of arrogance for the Church to say that the United States needs “values” from lawbreaking illegal aliens who come to steal American jobs using fraudulent identification and fake Social Security numbers. The Vaticrats continue to have a deaf ear and short attention span in this country: it was American courts and the press which finally revealed the ongoing priest pedophilia, which the holier-than-thou Catholic Church had covered up for decades.

In fact, the issue is market share, not the “moral concerns” mouthed by McCarrick. Catholic leadership wants more Hispanics to fill the pews emptied by American Catholics: since 1960 Hispanics have accounted for 71 percent of the growth in the U.S. Catholic Church. In Europe, however, it’s a different story because most immigrants are Muslim, and in Italy, Cardinal Biffi has recommended that Catholic immigrants be given preference, in order to protect Italy’s national identity.

Say, millions of Mexicans are hot to leave their homeland for “a better life and Europe would prefer Christian immigrants over unfriendly
Muslim ones — why doesn’t the UN or some billionaire open-borders crusader like George Soros create a migrant program that would be a win-win? Surely Parisians would love to smell the enchiladas of increased diversity there.

Thank God for George W. Bush!

Alan Elsner
reports in the Washington Post:

Richard Stana, director of homeland security and justice at the Government Accountability Office, told a House of Representatives subcommittee this week the number of notices of intent to fine employers for knowingly hiring unauthorized workers fell from 417 in 1999 to three last year.

Can you imagine how much worse the enforcement of the law of the land would have gotten if a raving liberal like John Kerry or Al Gore had beaten Bush? The number of employers fined for knowingly hiring illegal aliens might have been two … or even one!
