Customs And Border Protection To Establish Volunteer Reserve Force?
Just when you think you got people figured out…
The Los Angeles Times ran a story about Robert C. Bonner, Commissioner for Customs and Border Protection.
Immigration Official Praises Citizen Patrols by Solomon Moore 7/21/05
The highest ranking immigration official at DHS, Bonner had many concerns about civilian border patrol groups or so-called “vigilantes.”
Well, not anymore. The Commissioner is not only praising the efforts of groups such as The Minutemen Project…he’s encouraging them.
“We welcome the eyes and ears of citizens who help us gain control of our borders, especially when they do so in a peaceful way,” Bonner said during a visit to the Port of Los Angeles. “I applaud the fact that the organization of the Minutemen acted responsibly and didn’t take the law into their own hands.”
According to the times, Bonner said “his agency is looking at creating a volunteer reserve program to help beef up security.”
Wow!
