Sneaking Across The Border? These Shoes Definitely Go With That Outfit!
Some disgraceful woman has designed a new tennis shoe that comes equipped with a flashlight, a compass and a map of the U.S./Mexico border.
The “Brinco” has a retail value of $215 but for now the designer is content to pass them out free of charge…yeah, at a “migrant shelter” in Tiajuana.
For some of you, this may be old news as the shoes were introduced last August at a show in San Diego.
[Yeah, I think I heard about that…it was something like the “Crook and Traitor World Expo of 2005” but I could be wrong—it may have been a symposium.]
Judi Werthein emigrated to the U.S. from Argentina in 1997 legally and claims that she is not encouraging illegal immigration.
Werthein says she’s an artist and the shoes are simply an expression of the issues at hand today—the Brinco shoe is art.
Whoa, Nelly! Art may not be my area of expertise but I am definitely an authority on shoes! My closet looks more like a collection but the IRS won’t let me write it off as an investment—trust me, I tried to do it in 2001.
The only thing artistic about little Judi is her flair for euphemism—it took real talent (or nerve) to substitute art for contraband.
