More On Ports And The National Question

James Pinkerton In Newsday seems to have grasped that England isn’t Arabia, which is something that neither the Wall Street Journal nor the President of The United States seems to grasp. He quotes the President as saying: “I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a great British company.” Well, that’s simple; only some of the British are Arabs, while all of the Arabs are Arabs, and after recounting all the sins of the UAE, (which are numerous) Pinkerton adds:

So in challenging critics of the port deal, the president actually put the issue the wrong way. The critics aren’t holding the U.K. and the UAE to a different standard; they are holding the two countries to the same standard. And according to that single standard, Britain and the UAE look different: The British look sterling, while the Arab Emirates look mottled, at best.[Bush won't fight ports deal By James P. Pinkerton Feb 23, 2006]

In the meantimed, via Mickey Kaus, I see that Grover Norquist is saying “The only whiners left by next week will be the registered bigots.”

Grover Norquist thinks bigots ought to be registered? He would.

Nonexistent Backlash Duly Noted

Three Toledo men were indicted on terror charges Tuesday, another instance of foreign sleeper agents who have burrowed into the heartland [3 indicted in terror plots]. Those immigrants’ American Dream was to kill Americans.

(Last May it was reported that the Justice Department had “charged 375 persons in terrorism-related cases, 195 of whom already have pleaded guilty or been convicted, and removed from the country more than 500 people linked to September 11. “ ["Terrorists will fail, official says"])

At the Toledo Blade, editors published the standard sub-genre of sob story in response: you can’t have a terror arrest article without a fear-of-backlash story among local Muslims ["Toledo-area Muslims ask for justice, fear backlash."].

Dr. Mahjabeen Islam, co-founder and board member of the United Muslims Association of Toledo, said she fears that persecution of American Muslims is on the rise. She said she would not be surprised if some U.S. Muslims end up in internment camps like Japanese-Americans during World War II.

“It’s worse than 9/11, said the Toledo physician. “I think this is just the beginning.”

Nothing has happened to these whiners, yet they are crying up a storm. There has been very little backlash against Muslims living in America, yet they continually squawk like they are the victims.

On the contrary, the 3,000 dead Americans of 9/11 are the victims, while Osama and his henchmen threaten to nuke U.S. cities and kill millions. It would be nice if the press and the “Muslim community” remembered these little details.

Another Amnesty Plan In The Senate: The Wish Act

You have to hand it these politicians and their creative (deceptive) acronyms: the WISH Act, the DREAM Act…

The latest is [S.2049] the Welcoming Immigrants to a Secure Homeland Act.

Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM…yes, he is actually a Republican) introduced S.2049 as another option to debate next week when the Senate turns to immigration reform. [email him]

From his own website press release:

“The time is right to fix our immigration laws, which are not working properly,” Domenici said. “My bill strikes a sensible and realistic balance between cracking down on illegal immigration while encouraging legal immigration. Slamming the door on immigration or unilaterally deporting millions of illegals already in the country is just unrealistic.”

Here is part of the bill summary from the same website:

  • The bill would create a guest worker visa for up to three 3-year periods (9 years total) for immigrants to gain legal entry into the Unites States, and potentially apply for permanent resident status. The bill would allow 500,000 such visas the first year, with subsequent visas increased based on market need
  • The measure establishes a program to allow illegal immigrants now in the United States—estimated at up to 12 million people—to apply for legal guest worker status. This proposal entails paying a fine and obtaining a legal guest worker visa.

In his quote above, Domenici says his bill is a “realistic balance between cracking down on illegal immigration while encouraging legal immigration.”

Looks to me like its more of a caving in and giving the immigration lobby everything they want at the expense of Americans.

Wall Street Journal Still Doesn’t Have A Clue

The sale of US Ports to the Arabs is an incredibly bad idea, both politically, and from the standpoint of national security. Thus it’s not surprising that the Wall Street Journal supports it.

Michelle Malkin has more details, but she highlighted this piece of stunning cluelessness on the Journal’s part:

Yes, some of the 9/11 hijackers were UAE citizens. But then the London subway bombings last year were perpetrated by citizens of Britain, home to the company (P&O) that currently manages the ports that Dubai Ports World would take over. Which tells us three things: First, this work is already being outsourced to “a foreign-based company”; second, discriminating against a Mideast company offers no security guarantees because attacks are sometimes homegrown; and third, Mr. Graham likes to talk first and ask questions later.

Perhaps the WSJ doesn’t realize that there are still different nations and nation states in the world but here it is: Britain is not the United Arab Emirates. The Arabs not British..

The reason that the London bombing were committed by “citizens of Britain,” is because Britain extended citizenship to a great many dangerous Muslims. This is what it technically known as apreventable evil. The attacks weren’t homegrown, but rather transplanted.

But Britain is still dominated by actual Britons, the stock from which the founders American nation came. The British are America’s allies in the War on Terror.

The UAE, on the other hand, is all dangerous Muslims, from top to bottom. They aren’t allies; they’re enemies. The Journal, in it’s transnational way, once again proves unable to tell the difference.

UPDATE:Hate Crime: Who Committed It?

Shan-Yuan Ho is a former US Tae Kwon Do Olympian, who now teaches kickboxing at MIT, in between math classes.

She was the victim of anti-Asian, anti-immigrant violence in her youth. That’s why she took up martial arts.

The Boston Globe refers to these attacks, but they’ve left out one usual hate-crime detail: the race of the attackers.

Born in Taiwan, the oldest of three children, Ho was raised just outside San Francisco on the tough streets of Daly City. There, Ho recalls, she was teased for her Asian heritage, mocked for speaking her native Mandarin, and, every once in awhile, jumped by knife-wielding neighborhood thugs.

One time, she says, one of those thugs slashed her leg. More often, she was simply punched, kicked, knocked down, or bashed about the face. ”I have been knocked unconscious,” she says. ”I’ve been unconscious before. That was really bad.” But Ho, sufficiently scared, did not run. She decided to train instead. At age 11, she took up taekwondo.
Immortal combat: This martial artist’s in it for the fight, By Keith O’Brien, The Boston Globe, February 19, 2006

But the Globe doesn’t say who these attackers were, or why Daly City had such “tough streets.” I can answer the second question for sure:

Cities that were largely non-Hispanic white in 1970, like South Gate in Southern California and Daly City in Northern California, have become largely Hispanic.
Immigration and California Communities By William A.V. Clark,February 1999, Center for Immigration Studies

Which kind of suggests the answer to the first question, doesn’t it? But we’ll never know for sure, because it doesn’t say. Now, is the Boston Globe reporter deliberately concealing the facts here, or did it not even occur to him to ask? Inquiring minds want to know.

But “inquiring minds” aren’t to be found in the Main Stream Media, are they?

Update: Two readers have written in to point out that Asians are frequently the victims of racist harassment and violence by blacks, rather than Hispanics. I’m aware of this, I’m just…er…stereotyping Daly City. But for a harrowing story of black violence against Asians see Black Racism: The Hate That Dare Not Speak Its Name,? by Ying Ma. Derbyshire Dumped At NR

Since the degeneration of National Review into a GOP cheer leader, it has been far more instructive to consider what it will not publish than what it does. VDARE.com will carry an important example of this later this week.

In the meantime, Derbyshire-repression is back. John Derbyshire, a beacon of intellectual integrity amongst these sycophantic courtiers and coarse thugs , was prevented last September, it will be remembered, from mentioning the crucial racial dimension to New Orleans Katrina problems. Even defending George W., it appears, takes second place to conforming to (liberal) conventional wisdom.

The current example, not just an NRO item, but a full column, is even more revealing. Hesperophobia [dislike of the West] is a thoughtful assessment of the hostility evinced by the rest of the world to the West and specifically America. It comes to arguably white nationalist conclusions using socio-biological concepts which should greatly appeal to the likes of VDARE.com writers Steve Sailer and J-P Rushton:

They hate us from wounded ethnic pride. They hate us because of our cultural superiority; which is to say, at one remove, our political superiority. They hate us because they can’t organize societies like ours, in which security, prosperity, and hope for the future are available to all, and creativity flourishes. They can’t, they know they can’t, and the knowledge drives them nuts…

Over most of the non-Western world, government is just an ATM for the clever, ruthless, entrenched, and well-connected…Consider the flocks of illegal immigrants gathering at six thirty every morning on some street corner in your town. Why are they here? Fundamentally, because of the sheer excruciating crappiness of government in Central American nations. Citizens of those nations watch their corrupt elites shovel the national wealth into their private bank accounts. They look to the North and see a place where at least a day’s work will get you a day’s pay, which you will not then have to hand over as a bribe to some cop or official. So North they come, often bringing their native hesperophobia along in their baggage.

Probably what mobilized the NR commissars was Derbyshire’s rejection of the neocon faith that a bit of institutional tinkering will change things

…we give them democracy, not to mention boxcar-loads of cash, and they elect… Mugabe, Chavez, Hamas.

his contention that these behavioral patterns might have genetic roots

It has long been known, for example, that East Asians have better visual-spatial skills than other peoples…Now, visual-spatial skills originate in the brain. So, however, do social skills. …But if a group of humans with one genetic heritage can differ slightly from some other group in the way they process visual information, might they not also differ in the way they process social information? And if they do so differ, might it not be that forms of society that come easily to one group, might come only with great difficulty, or not at all, to another?

and that

my neocon friends and …talk a great deal about the history of political thought: about Aristotle and Machiavelli, Montesquieu and de Maistre, Buckley and Strauss. All very instructive, to be sure; and it is of course deplorable of me to fidget and chafe at the coyness with which we all avoid noticing a thing—a rather plain, physical thing—that all those thinkers have in common. The leftist, hesperophobic presidents of Venezuela and Bolivia have a similar thing in common—not with Aristotle and the rest, but with each other.

In other words: skin color.

Derbyshire is saying that hostility to the West stems from an inability to emulate its successes that is probably genetic in origin and which is symbolized and exacerbated by the fact that the West is white.

Interesting, stimulating, important – all reasons why the essay would be unsuitable for National Review as currently managed.

But it is worth considering why an article that might conceivably incline the founding people of this country to consider matters from the angle of their ethnic interest is forbidden at NR. After all, they are the indispensable core constituency underpinning the Republican regime so assiduously courted by the magazine. What is NR afraid of?

Me, The Matricula, And The Internet

Being the proud owner of my own Mexican matricula consular id cards (I have three, the name on one I keep to myself) has proven invaluable to illustrate the ease of forgery and access tothese little laminated stealth amnesty cards.

I have been spending a lot of time recently speaking to various groups around Georgia (which has prevented me from making regular contributions to VDARE…sorry, Peter) in an effort to educate them on the facts and consequences of the illegal immigration crisis created by the President of the United States’ refusal to secure our borders in a war on terror.

One of the first questions I ask, whether the group numbers 30, 100 or 1500, “how many of you are aware that we had an amnesty for nearly three million illegal aliens in 1986?”

Most interesting fact about speaking to several groups a week here?

I have never had more than 20% of the audience raise their hands…and these are normally educated and aware people. Most often, county GOP organizations.

Good job by the MSM in hiding the 1986 amnesty while promoting the next one…eh?

As part of my presentation, I talk about the matricula, explain that the Office of Intelligence of the FBI regards that Mexican ID as a security threat to the U.S. and show one or both of my enlarged and foam board mounted versions.

On both, my own face for radio in the photo. On one, my own name and DOB and address…on the other, I chose a different name – “Al”.

“Al Qaida Gonzalez”. I think it makes the point perfectly.

The bearer of this card is actually a US citizen, and neither a Mexican, nor a terrorist. Okay?

A reader with was kind enough to send me a link to a Google images page that has one of my matricula consulars featured–the Al Qaida Gonzalez matricula, which appears in several places on Google.

Then I found that a Mexican newspaper, El Porvenir in Monterrey, has posted an article on its site (under “legal”) that reports on the efforts in Mexico t o convince the Mexican House of Representatives to accept the matricula consular…like the United States does.

Like U.S. banks do.(The article does not mention that American airlines accept the matricula as well, but that Blockbuster Video does not.

The original article is here. I ran it through an online translator here and got this out in English.

They request acceptance of the matricula consular
Tuesday, 27 of December of 2005

The federal Deputies exhort the federal executive so that this matricula consular is accepted as identification in all the country.

Mexico, 26 December (Notimex). - The House of Representatives exhorted the federal Executive so that the consular matriculation of high digital security, that sends the Secretariat of Relaciones Exteriores (SRE), is accepted as official identification in all the national territory.

Also they asked for the federal Executive to manage the necessary thing before the financial and private sector, as well as with the state and municipal governments and the different levels from government, so that they accept this document.

The federal deputy Juan Manuel Dávalos Padilla, into Partido Institutional Revolucionario (PRI), informed that with this proposal he tries himself to support to the connacionales so that when you would reingresen to the national territory accepts the consular matriculation to them that grants the Mexican chancellery.

In interview in the Legislative Palace of San Lazaro, he was sorry that to the emigrants who return to the country she denies the passage to them to Mexican ground with the presentation of the mentioned document although she fulfills the requirements that the SRE for their expedition asks for.

Dávalos Padilla referred that this matriculation is accepted by the Federal Electoral Institute and in theUnited States it is valid to open banking accounts and to make proceedings before the police departments, public libraries and issuance of driver’s license, among others.

The emigration from Mexican to the United States has grown years in the last and continuously that country accepts or approves diverse requests of the Mexican diplomatic authorities, like the certificate of consular matriculation that is used in diverse states of that nation, indicated.[Piden sea aceptada matricula consular< , ElPorvenir.com, December 27, 2005]

As far as I can see, the editor in Mexico , in an effort to illustrate the contention that the “consular matriculation of high digital security” is …well…..”secure” has gone into Google images, found an image of a matricula consular, ignored the name on the card, totally disregarded the mugshot photo, and used my Al Qaida Gonzalez matricula image in their posting.

It took me two days to stop laughing at the irony before I could write this up.

Maybe I’ll try to become a matricula model.

Fun is where you find it.

On Presidents’ Day, I Like Ike

Eisenhower Visiting 101st Airborne

Shown is our 34th President when he was the Supreme Allied Commander and visited with the 101st Airborne as they prepared to jump into Nazi-held Europe on D-Day. Unlike the last several Presidents of both parties, Dwight Eisenhower was an American patriot, not a double-talking globalist ready to dissolve our nation’s sovereignty for a misguided economic agenda.

When President, Eisenhower distinguished himself by deporting a million foreign nationals with no right to be here in Operation Wetback. (BTW, that now-discredited term was used by even left-wingers like Molly Ivins until recently.)

These days, we are not supposed to use the word crusadebecause Muslims will be offended. But Ike’s call for a “Great Crusade” among the Allies on the eve of D-Day was stirring and noble. Have a listen.

Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Forces: You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Las Vegas And Hoover Dam

My wife Lilia and I recently returned from Las Vegas, where I was invited by the Secured Borders USA organization to speak to their monthly townhall meeting.

Many thanks to Secured Borders’ director Lawrence Pappas, who brought us there, provided our lodging , and gave us a great tour of Vegas.

I spoke at the Secured Borders meeting on February 14th and on the “Know Your Rights” talk show on February 15th.

Lawrence Pappas also took us out to see the Hoover Dam, on the Nevada-Arizona border.

There I learned the story of this technological marvel built by American labor during the Great Depression. The guide told us that most of the workers were paid 50 cents an hour, twice the going rate of 25 cents per hour for those who had jobs at this time.

Another thing I learned was that being an American citizen was a requirement for working on the construction of Hoover Dam. Certainly, had they so desired, the Bureau of Reclamation and Six Companies Inc, (the private company contracted to build the dam) could have found and imported “willing workers” from other countries, who would have worked for less. But they were too patriotic for that!

What a contrast with today’s America, in which a broad spectrum of leaders, from “conservative” George W. Bush to our “conservative” captains of industry are all too willing, even eager, to replace American workers with foreign labor. Sigh.

American Miners Now Targeted

We wouldn’t expect coal mine owners to allow American mining jobs to remain decent paying, what with millions of “willing workers” lurking south of the border. Certainly not.

According to one mine owner, American workers’ declining work ethic is at fault, not his desire to cut wages by half [Coal Co. Takes Heat for Recruitment Plan].

“It is common knowledge that the work ethic of the Eastern Kentucky worker has declined from where it once was,” [Sidney Coal Co. President Charlie] Bearse wrote to the state mining board. Bad attitudes and drug abuse, he argued, were affecting attendance “and, ultimately, productivity.”

Bearse’s appeal to the board: Relax an English-only policy in the mines so he could bring in Hispanic workers.

It’s an incredible insult to American miners to say they have “bad attitudes” considering the difficulty of the job, particularly after the recent deaths in mining accidents. Bearse also asserts that there are worker shortages, presumably because mining is a job Americans no longer want to do, even though it remains one of the few middle-class occupations in Appalachia.

The intent of the owners is the same old exploitation strategy: bring in thousands of foreigners to force wages down, just as they did with the meatpacking industry, which once had jobs providing middle-class wages to American families. Now meatpacking has reverted to the terrible conditions which Upton Sinclair chronicled in The Jungle a century ago.

For a more realistic view about American miners’ willingness to work, see Tragedies haven’t cooled demand for coal jobs in Ohio. [by Rita Price, February 19, 2006, The Columbus Dispatch ]

Despite dangers made vivid by tragedies in West Virginia, people would love to sign on. Officials expect a surplus of applicants when a mine opens this year about 60 miles southeast of Columbus in Perry County.

See? There are plenty of English-speaking citizen workers available, but they are not wanted by industry today.
