There Is No Overlap Between The Texas GOP And Bush On Immigration.

This news account doesn’t show any overlap between the Texas GOP and Bush on immigration.

PLATFORM APPROVED

The party approved a platform Saturday that urges no amnesty for illegal immigrants, stiffer penalties for employers who hire illegal workers and suspension of automatic U.S. citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.[Highlights from Texas Republican convention, Austin American-Statesman June 3, 2004]

I didn’t find the state party’s platform online, but the apparent kickoff speech by the state party’s chair (woman) is full of astonishingly good stuff including this amazing sentence: “A good immigration policy should be based on a stable ceiling whose goal is to meet the needs of America and stabilize its population.”[ “I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag” By Tina J. Benkiser, Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas]

Here’s another sentence: “What kind of attitude is ‘you can’t stop it so you may as well legalize it?’ Americans deserve better than that.”

Bill Owens Finds Another Country To Sell Out To

Dave Kopel writes in the Rocky Mountain News:

Do you think it’s newsworthy if Colorado’s governor hosts the head of a foreign nation and declares his support for amnesty for illegal aliens from that nation? The Denver papers didn’t think so, so it was only by reading The Irish Times that I found out that when Gov. Bill Owens hosted a dinner for visiting Irish President Mary McAleese on May 19, Owens “expressed support for an immigration bill that would allow tens of thousands of illegal Irish immigrants to remain in the U.S. and eventually apply for citizenship.”[President stresses role of education,By Denis Staunton Irish Times, May 20, 2006(subscriber link)]

The News covered only McAleese’s speech to the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, while the Post covered the speech as well as the state dinner with Owens that evening, but did not report on his remarks about immigration.[Kopel: Climate alarmism a perennial, June 3, 2006]

Soccer Diversity Gearing Up

The San Francisco Chronicle was gleeful today over the upcoming World Cup, the one sport which Americans don’t much like, exemplifying multiculti values for that reason. The local diversity community is wacked out over the boring game, which gives them a socially acceptable venue to express their true national loyalty [Bay Area immigrants warm up for quadrennial soccer madness, San Francisco Chronicle, 6/4/06].

He and his American wife will have to “divide our hearts” when the Czechs and Americans play against each other in the World Cup. “I like the U.S. team, but I was born in the Czech Republic, and my heart is still there.”

The NY Times is more somber with a story describing the ugly racism now showing up in Europe against black players. Spectators making monkey sounds and throwing bananas are not uncommon these days, despite decades of multicultural happy talk. The honchos at FIFA are nevertheless responding with more of same, namely a campaign of pro-tolerance messages and kumbaya via soccer.

Incidentally, German media is full of accusations that American society is thoroughly, hopelessly racist, which the excellent blog David’s Medienkritik has been pointing out for years.

Vdare.com will be watching the American team, noted here last year when they whupped Mexico’s ass in a proper grudge match. Landon Donovan, Mexico’s nemesis, is front and center once again, with plenty of pro-America attitude and talent.

Tough choice coming up on June 11 — root against invading Mexico or nuke-threatening Iran. Close call there. Plus, extra fascist points for the game being played in Nuremberg!

Illegal Voters And The SPLC

If an election can turn on a sentence, this could be the one: “You don’t need papers for voting.” Busby on defense, says she misspoke, By Dani Dodge, San Diego Union-Tribune June 3, 2006

That was the San Diego Union-Tribune weighing in on Francine Busby’s astonishing appeal for the electoral support of illegal aliens, already covered heavily by conservative media.

Her claim to have “misspoken” rests on the assumption that she was looking for other forms of support than illegal votes:

Bilbray said at worst, Busby was encouraging someone to vote illegally. At best, she was encouraging someone who is illegally in the country to work on her campaign.

For example, undocumented immigrants who didn’t have “papers for voting ” could provide the crack cocaine for voter registration drives, they could deliver cigarettes to homeless shelters in order to get out the Democratic vote, or they could slash tires in order to keep the Republican vote in. That wouldn’t involve illegal voting.

In 2002, the SPLC launched a smear attack on Dr. John Tanton, and the immigration reform movement in general. Their agents attended an immigration reform meeting on February 13, 2002, at which Brian Bilbray spoke:

After Tancredo’s 10-minute pep talk, Brian Bilbray, a former Republican congressman from San Diego, Calif., weighed in with horror stories about an impending social catastrophe due to immigration.

“We are creating a slave class that criminal elements breed in,” said Bilbray, who complained bitterly — and improbably[emphasis added] — that he lost his 2000 re-election bid because “illegal aliens” had voted against him.SPLCenter.org: The Puppeteer[See also The Social Contract Press - The Puppeteer Replies.]

It doesn’t seem so improbable now, does it?
