He Had Sex With A What???

Described as a “transient” and a “Mexican citizen working as a laborer” 31 year-old Junio Trenta is being held in a Florida jail in lieu of $13,000 bail.

(It is probably more than safe to assume he is an illegal immigrant, ok?)

His crime? Having anal intercourse with a dog…excuse me, a “male dog” as the newspaper felt compelled to mention.

[Indiantown man accused of sex with puppy by Gabriel Margasak Scripps Service 6/21/06]

When confronted by police, this sicko actually suggested that it was ok because it was his dog…no, I’m not joking.

So I have a question: Did the recent Senate Amnesty Bill include language to keep bestiality freaks like Junio Trenta off that Path to Citizenship? I don’t think it did because I don’t think any of our Senators could have envisioned such a scenario…well, maybe Teddy Kennedy.

In any event, we’ll keep an eye on this one to see if he gets deported. Any bets?

P.S. Thank you to my dahhhling friend Tim for the tip although I may have to punish him for the disgusting image now floating around the otherwise semi-decent recesses of my dirty mind.

Immigration: Incentives for Breakfast

Franklin Sanders, whom one of our correspondents noted some time ago is “one of the South’s authentic contemporary heroes”, has an instructive vignette in the latest issue of his newsletter The Moneychanger.

Sunday morning, 7:30. Standing on the balcony of a
Chattanooga motel, I glanced down across the driveway. The
door stood open to the kitchen of the restaurant there, where a
small compact car was parked. Five or six Hispanic men
clustered around the car’s trunk, while a Hispanic woman busily
served up food out of the trunk. One by one the jostling men took
their food and paid the woman. Across the front windshield a
large decal read, “Guatemala.” Across the back of the trunk a
decal read, “Vasquez.

It dawned on me that I was witnessing why Hispanics
succeed in America. No, I don’t mean some trite, moralistic
“they work harder than Americans”… the reason Hispanics prosper is because they are willing
to ignore completely America’s stupid laws and regulations.

Sanders is amongst other things a stern economic libertarian, for which he has paid a high price. Here he concerned to argue that these immigrants are simply seizing economic freedoms Americans used have:

you can’t even open your doors without getting a “license”
from the state. A license, of course, is a permission to do
something that is otherwise unlawful. They’ve made it a crime to
work for yourself.

Perhaps Hispanics are… more hardened to tyranny. Perhaps at home they have become so
inured to it that they know how to handle it better…if the police
catch them, well, they worry about that then. They suffer their
arrest, pay their “fine,”…and then go right back to doing what
God gave them a right to do. They make themselves free to
prosper, while we sit in our own self-imposed chains.

Without necessarily going so far, VDARE.com readers can see that he has a point. If illegals can come here, steal free (and superior) medical care, steal free education (superior? Hmm…) often not pay their full taxes, and, if they remit home, effectively hugely boost the real value of their savings because of the lower cost of living there, they face an entirely different incentive structure to the native born. They are actually privileged. Social stress is inevitable

Barlett And Steele Gone From Time

TimesWatch points to this NY Times Story, referring to this CJR blog item, which is commenting on this Richard Cohen piece about newspapers that don’t make money, which says that

Time Inc., which reportedly paid about $4 million for pictures of Brangelina’s baby, recently let go two of the best investigative reporters in the business, Donald Barlett and James Steele. The company said it could no longer afford them.

While TimesWatch and the MediaResearch Center [Journalists Mourn Loss of Leftist, Ideologically-Driven
Reporters
] are certainly right about Barlett and Steele’s general ideological bias, I’d like to note two stories they broke that we’ve commented on here, one of which was this one:
New H1B Scandal - Tax Evasion!,
in which Peter Brimelow said ”Oddly, this curious situation has been exposed by two muckraking liberal journalists, Donald L. Barlett and James B. Steele, in their latest paean of praise to interventionist government, The Great American Tax Dodge: How Spiraling Fraud and Avoidance Are Killing Fairness, Destroying the Income Tax, and Costing You.

The other, of course, is their massive Time cover story of September 20, 2004:Who Left the Door Open? (also archived free here)

The next time you pass through an airport and have to produce a photo ID to establish who you are and then must remove your shoes, take off your belt, empty your pockets, prove your laptop is not an explosive device and send your briefcase or purse through a machine to determine whether it holds weapons, think about this: In a single day, more than 4,000 illegal aliens will walk across the busiest unlawful gateway into the U.S., the 375-mile border between Arizona and Mexico. No searches for weapons. No shoe removal. No photo-ID checks. Before long, many will obtain phony identification papers, including bogus Social Security numbers, to conceal their true identities and mask their unlawful presence.

That is the kind of immigration coverage that has gotten so many writers fired, over the years. I have no idea if that’s the case here. Maybe their jobs have just been outsourced.

Diversity Quote-As At Gannett

Gannett Newspapers, which just bought the Detroit Free Press, is so gung-ho on diversity, they have quotas on how many minorities must appear above the fold on the front pages of their newspapers, (preferably not in crime stories, I presume.)

Still, according to the New York Times,

it came as something of a surprise last week to some at The Detroit Free Press, which was acquired last year by Gannett, when they were told to contribute the names of minority sources to a collective list. Many newspapers keep such lists to help reporters who are assigned to an unfamiliar story, but they identify sources by their expertise. The Free Press list is meant to flag their racial, ethnic or religious backgrounds as well.

Some in the newsroom objected, saying sources should be quoted because they were the most credible on a topic or the most articulate, not because they fit an ethnic profile. They said they feared the day they might have to delete an insightful quote from a majority source in favor of a less useful quote from someone who would help the newspaper meet corporate goals.
[A Gannett Paper Seeks a New Kind of Expertise, By Katharine Q. Seelye, June 12, 2006]

The blog Media Orchard, where I found this item, says

We get the idea. Still, it’s a little weird.

We can see the ProfNet request now:

We’re looking for experts who can provide our readers with advice regarding the asteroid that is currently zooming toward Earth.

But only if they’re black.

Gannett was mentioned as a diversityphilic company in When quotas replace merit, everybody suffers by Peter Brimelow and Leslie Spencer.[Forbes, 1993] It was also featured in William McGowan’s book, Coloring The News, which I reviewed here in 2002.

Dan Seligman quoted this incident in his review of Coloring the News.

Paul Teetor, an award-winning reporter at Vermont’s Gannett-owned Burlington Free Press, is covering a local forum on racism. A young white woman tries to speak and is told by the moderator, a mayoral aide, that only “people of color” are allowed to speak. Mr. Teetor agrees with the woman that this is “reverse racism” and says so in his next-day news story. The mayoral aide says he will organize a march on the Free Press if Mr. Teetor isn’t instantly fired. He is indeed fired, in a 90-second meeting at which he has no chance to defend himself. In the ensuing wrongful discharge suit, it emerges that the editor who fired him is under pressure from Gannett to improve his “mainstreaming” scores. That term refers to a program where editors are supposed to meet a variety of racial targets in hiring, in the use of sources and in positive news coverage. (After a few days of testimony, Gannett caves in and settles the suit.)

The same diversityphile policy has made Gannett a heavy user of H-1B visas. But one amusing thing about their corporate diversity webpage is that the “poster persons” for their diversity coverage are two white Christian women in North Carolina.

It’s true that these women are “co-pastors” at a gay-friendly church, and have been “partners” for eleven years, but still..
