Tennessee Woman Murdered in Her Home

Mary Sadler was a woman in her seventies living peacefully in Bellevue, Tennessee. That was until she was beaten and strangled to death on Monday by an illegal alien who resided next door. The attack was so violent that even her little pet cockatiel was killed [ Neighbor charged in death of Bellevue woman in home, The Tennessean 8/23/06].

Mary Sadler murder victim of illegal alien

A glass panel from a grandfather clock was shattered. A mirror in the front foyer was cracked, and glass spilled out onto the floor.

Nearby, police found Sadler, 74, dead, her beaten and bloody body by a rear sliding-glass door inside the home.

“It was one hell of a fight,” her grandson-in-law, Paul Woods, said Tuesday as he helped clean debris from the living room. “I think she did a good job for being 74 years old and trying to defend herself.”

According to Metro police, the man who on Monday killed Sadler, and perhaps Sadler’s bird, was Ivan Moreno, 30, a next-door neighbor.

Moreno, who is thought to be an illegal immigrant from Mexico, admitted to police that he struck Sadler after he went to her house to get money, said Metro police spokesman Don Aaron.

Mary Sadler was a long-time volunteer for many civic institutions, including 26 years helping veterans through the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as being a poll worker at elections and volunteering through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was also the captain of the local Neighborhood Watch.

In short, despite her age, Mary was an active and valued member of her community and family. It’s a shame and a loss that she was another victim of open borders.

India Doesn’t Shy From Illegals’ Real Criminal Status

Indian newspaper the Central Chronicle reported today that of the 326 immigrants deported from Houston this week, all were “criminals.”

The ICE project “Return To Sender” has arrested aliens citizens of Pakistan, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia.

Some of the apprehended aliens had allegedly committed crimes such as homicide, aggravated sexual assault of minors, and robbery, assault, human smuggling, narcotics trafficking.

30 were fugitive criminals with final orders of deportation, 89 were non-criminal fugitives with final orders of deportation and 17 are illegal aliens with criminal convictions. The rest were immigration violators.

Funny thing: of the 5 media sources I could find reporting on Houston’s deportations, only the Central Chronicle listed the aliens’ actual crimes. But then, I guess that kind of reporting would make the illegals look bad.

Temps Decamp to Glorious PRC Homeland

Chinese are supposed to be ideal immigrants, with their strong work ethic and scholarship that often ensures economic success. But some (many?) remain culturally Chinese inside and with that, a desire to return to their homeland. As a result, they are pulling up stakes in America and practicing reverse migration to answer the call of tribalism, a constant of human nature.

“It all comes down to one issue: the sense of belonging in America,” said Marlon Hom, chair of Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University. Until the 1940s, he noted, Chinese immigrants often returned home because American society rejected them and denied them citizenship. “In the past, it was discrimination from the white society; today, it’s ethno-centrism among some Chinese immigrants.” [...]

Hu and Chao have been spending more time in Shanghai each year — living there in spring and fall and moving back in summer and winter, like “migrating birds,” Hu said — but they decided maintaining two residences was too much trouble.

In many ways, he has assimilated since he moved to the United States in 1969 — he speaks unaccented English and is tanned and fit from running, skiing and playing golf. Yet, “it’s very natural for me in China,” he said, “to be surrounded by my own people.” [Emigres Feel China's Pull, San Francisco Chronicle 8/24/06]

It’s another symptom of America’s devolution to becoming a Nation of Squatters. Immigrants are no longer expected to become true Americans at heart, so they don’t. They are further indoctrinated by multiculturalism that preaches one’s primary loyalty should be to the ethnic group (except when practiced by white Americans, and then it’s racism).

Good luck to the homeward voyagers. Don’t hurry back!

Good News, Bad News on the Border

The Good News is that Michael Chertoff has announced that there will be no more “catch-and-release” on the border, for Other Than Mexican immigrants. I don’t actually believe this, but it’s a sign that administration, if it hasn’t seen the light, is feeling the heat.

WASHINGTON — Nearly all non-Mexican illegal immigrants caught sneaking into the United States are being held until they can be returned to their home countries, the Bush administration said Wednesday.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said this marks the end of the so-called “catch-and-release” policy that for years helped illegal immigrants remain in the United States unhindered.U.S. Ends ‘Catch-And-Release’ at Border By LARA JAKES JORDAN The Associated Press, August 23, 2006

The bad news involves the previous good news about Bush sending the National Guard to guard the border, which is a good idea, if some other President was doing it.

But here’s how it’s playing out, because the National Guard is being sent out unarmed, and now the Border Patrol has to guard them.

Several veteran Border Patrol agents in Arizona told The Washington Times they were issued standing orders to be within five minutes of National Guard troops along the border and that Border Patrol units were pulled from other regions to protect the Guard units — leaving their own areas short-handed.
The agents, who refer to the assignment as “the nanny patrol,” said most of the Guard troops are not allowed to carry loaded weapons, despite a significant increase in border violence directed at Border Patrol agents and other law-enforcement personnel over the past year. Of course, the military has a very bad habit of taking away soldiers guns and ammunition even in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Apparently their fear of either an “accidental discharge” or an “incident” is stronger than their concern for the soldier’s need to defend himself against an actual actual enemy. [See here, here, here, here, here, here and here for more horror stories about disarmed soldiers, as well as advice about what to do if you're in that situation.]

So it’s “good news” that Secretary Chertoff has decided to end the “catch and release” policy for persons “Other than Mexican” on the border, but will we see a story in a few months that parallels the the “No-ammunition” story?

It seems likely to me that we will.
