Amidst the deluge of election triumphalism by Democratic –inclined news media is this classical example of how MSM misrepresentation of the immigration issue benefits the Treason Lobby:

This says on Immigration:

House Republicans charged into the midterm elections portraying themselves as getting tough with undocumented immigrants. In these five states, the voters prefer Democrats on the issue, though the margin was a statistically insignificant 2 percentage points in Missouri. That may suggest that the issue is only helping rally Republicans’ base voters rather than winning converts.

(Getting out your base voters is of course an absolute pre requisite to winning elections, and it will probably turn out that preventing that is how the Bush Administration has crippled the GOP.)

But the illuminating part is the next paragraph:

“We have a problem with illegal immigrants” that Congress isn’t addressing, said Susan Lewis, of King City, Missouri. The 44-year-old teacher and self-described independent voter favors tougher enforcement of current immigration laws and plans to vote mostly for Democratic candidates.

Now of course it is true that the Republicans essentially have two policies. There is the White House/ Senate Amnesty/Immigration Acceleration approach, and the House GOP (a.k.a. the Third Party) policy of prioritizing Border Control. Which one the voters dislike is the critical (unasked) question.

The sad thing is that this deluded lady has not grasped that the Democrats are solidly behind the White House line. That is not a point the MSM is going to clarify.
