On Thanksgiving, think of the Duke Victims
As VDARE.com readers settle down, we hope, to a happy Thanksgiving Day meal with loved ones and friends on this, perhaps the pleasantest American cultural innovation, we ask that a thought – perhaps a prayer- be spared for the Duke Lacrosse accused, and their families. They should be on the brink of well-earned high level professional careers and productive lives - instead they face financial ruin, the certain waste of years, permanent vilification, emotional distress, and the not- trivial possibility of an unjust conviction.
The crime these young men definitely did commit, it appears, is being white, intelligent and comparatively prosperous. For this they are being subjected to a politicized trial which bears comparison to the great historic icons of the Left – Sacco and Vanzetti, Scottsboro, and even the Salem Witch Trial.
Thanks, JW, for drawing my attention to a valuable blog on the subject.
VDARE.com’s central contention is that ethnic- and culture-specific politics are inevitable in America, as in every other polity in world history.
Efforts to convince the founding peoples of this country that this time it is different are primarily subterfuges intended to disarm them against their enemies. Hopefully the Duke atrocity will do something to alert more that this is War.
