Democrats Are All About Immigration Reform–Or Something Like That

If you’ve been watching game, Democrats it seems want to be the party of immigration reform. Oh yes, they are all about it these days.

And it doesn’t stop there…Senator Biden has even dared to (gasp!) speak ill of Mexico. No, I am not yanking your chain.

Check this out: Biden blames Mexico for our illegal immigration problem, our drug problems and calls their government “corrupt”…and he does it quite frequently.

I know this and you know this but for the last six years Bush II has flat refused to blame Mexico for anything.

George W. Bush could suffer the worst Montezuma’s Revenge in the history of modern medicine after eating a green taco in Tijuana and still find a way to blame Al Qaeda or Al Gore.

In a recent AP interview (here) Biden said:

“It is one of the wealthiest countries in the hemisphere and because of a corrupt system that exists in Mexico, there is the 1 percent of the population at the top, a very small middle class and the rest is abject poverty.”

In the same article, he goes on to blame Mexico for the illegal immigration problem in America.

And there’s more…where tough immigration reform is concerned (and I mean “tough” by liberal standards which means no amnesty although they have yet to define ‘amnesty’) Biden is not alone in the Senate.

Senate newcomer Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) ran an ad back in September, in which she sat in her kitchen, looked into a camera and said:

“Let me tell you what I believe in,” she said. “No amnesty for illegal immigrants.”

And P.S. She won! [Still no slam dunk on an immigration bill Tensions are surfacing as Democratic leaders must deal with newly elected conservatives inside their own party. By Nicole Gaouette, Times Staff Writer November 23, 2006 ]

About six months ago, Democrats were all about the “path to citizenship” provisions and other amnesty euphemisms.

Today we’re hearing a new tune from the Left: Mexico is a problem and amnesty is not a good idea.

Pelosi did not list immigration reform as a priority issue for the first 100 hours of the new Congress—a very clear sign that she plans to avoid it like the plague.

Oh yes, little Ms. Green Card’s All Around knows that best way to ensure a Republican victory in 2008 is to promote amnesty legislation.

You see, the Democrats only won because Republican voters let them win. Those of us fed up with the GOP’s refusal to pass true immigration reform (among other things) either stayed home or gave our votes to anybody on the ballot without the word “incumbent” next to it.

Indeed…I had lunch last week with various politically minded friends. Some were from California and a few were from Nevada.

Needless to say my friends from Nevada were proud of the new laws in Pahrump, NV which declare English the official language etc…

All present save for one were Republicans or very conservative Independents—and yet, it seemed none of them voted for a single incumbent candidate in their respective districts.

My friend Mark went so far as to say “I looked at the ballot, if I saw the word ‘incumbent’ I knew not to vote for them.”

I think there were two voter anomalies at work on November 7th which led to the Democrat sweep:

1. Those disgusted with Republicans
2. Those disgusted with Incumbents

The combination spelled disaster for the GOP…and it could as well for the Dems.

The Pelosi crew does not want to do anything to anger those disenfranchised Republicans enough to go back to the GOP.

Let them stay hone or even better, support the Democrats.

Pelosi knows that the fastest way to tick off those undecided voters at this point would be the creation of 12 million illegal aliens turned new U.S. citizens.

So what’s the solution?

A big name like Joe Biden is going to point the finger at Mexico…and rightly so…that way the Democrats appear to be taking a no-nonsense approach to immigration reform.

In other words, exactly what the GOP should have done!!!
