Traitor Rat Senators Present Amnesty on Steroids

The reprehensible deal has been done in secret over weeks of negotiation. The Republicans caved to Democrats’ demands on behalf of La Raza and other Marxican fifth columnists. Senators plan to rush the 1000-page, nation-shredding bill through the Senate next week.

A bipartisan group of Senate lawmakers and the White House struck an immigration reform deal Thursday that would grant legal status to the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already in the United States and increase border and interior enforcement initiatives.
[Senators, White House Reach Agreement on Immigration Fox News 5/17/07]

First of all, it’s a pipedream that there are only 12 million illegal aliens. Bear-Stearns estmated several years ago that there were probably 20 million and many more have entered since then. The number could easily be 25-30 million.

It’s a terrible sell-out as well as stupid. All the major mistakes of the 1986 legislation are repeated. There’s no tough enforcement, just carrot with the pretense of a stick. The usual lying scum stepped up to spin their BS, like Sen. Arlen Spector who said, “It is not amnesty. This will restore the rule of law.”

Of course it’s amnesty. When you reward, rather than punish, a lawbreaker for his anti-social deeds, it’s amnesty. Yeah, the Senate legislation will scare them from illegal immigration in Guerrero.

A more realistic Senator Grassley remarked on Lou Dobbs, “You know what I found out? If you reward illegality, you get more of it.”

Also in the sanity camp is Rep. Ed Royce from southern California, who appeared on Dobbs today:

REP. ED ROYCE, (R) CA: Well, it is [a complete sellout]. And it’s a mockery of the rule of law and if we go back to the 1986 amnesty, it is the same logic, the same reasoning we heard at the time. That if massive amnesty is granted, somehow there’s going to be enforcement. We saw no enforcement of the employer sanctions then, what we saw was a tripling of the amount of illegal immigration as a result of that ‘86 act after it was passed and that’s what we’re going to see that here, Lou. [...]

In terms of the employer sanctions already on the books, Lou, those are not being seriously enforced. So the enforcement component of this is not going to happen. But in addition to the amnesty, we have an increase in legal immigration of three quarters of a million people. We have the new guest worker program and the entire cost of this is $2.4 trillion. On the American taxpayer.

As Fjordman noted last year,

You are at war with Mexico. They are deliberately using massive immigration to conquer your territory, and your “leaders” are kneeling. It’s just as Muslims are doing in Europe, only without the terrorism. In future encyclopedias it will say: USA: “Nation that existed until the 21st century. Had the strongest armed forces in human history. Was conquered and colonized by unarmed Mexicans between 1980 and 2030.”

Above, the lying weasels who worked out the “compromise” look very pleased with themselves: Sen. Edward Kennedy (seated), and from left, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) and Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA).

Illegals Already Complaining Senate Surrender Not Abject Enough

Some illegals are already complaining that the Senate bill, which contains some token provisions in the direction of enforcing the law, does not go far enough.

LOS ANGELES: Illegal immigrants and their advocates sharply criticized the Senate’s immigration reform deal with President George W. Bush on Thursday, saying its provisions are overly harsh and will drive many people deeper into the shadows.

They said key components of the proposed deal regarding illegal immigrants, such as having to return to their home countries to apply for legal residency and pay a $5,000 fine, would be financially impossible for low-wage earners.

Many also said stepped up raids over the past year made them distrustful that U.S. immigration authorities would let them return to America.

“If I go home, who is going to guarantee that I’ll be let back in?” said David Guerra, 44, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador.

Guerra, who works as a day laborer in Los Angeles, said his wife and four children survive off the $300 he sends home each month.

Slavery, Immigration, And The Press

The story of Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, 51 and Varsha Mahender Sabhnani, 45, who are accused of having kept two Indonesian women as slaves, torturing them on regular basis, is being covered in the mainstream media without the use of the word immigrant to describe either the alleged perpetrators or even the victims.

A search on “immigration” on the same story includes several hits, because now they’ve been raided by Immigration And Customs Enforcement.

References to the ethnicity of the criminals is seen in the foreign press, for example in Malaysia, they write South Asian couple keeping women as slaves house raided Malaysia Sun Thursday 17th May, 2007 (IANS), whereas the Times of India has Indian couple held in NY for keeping ’slaves’ and other headlines from the Indian subcontinent include

Rich Indian couple held for ‘slavery’ Indian Express

By way of contrast, and as tribute to the AP Stylebook, which, if you recall, says that race is not “pertinent” to stories of crime, here are some of the headlines from the “North American Subcontinent.” [Excuse the fact that they don't have links, I'm slightly pressed for time.]

Looking at those headlines, wouldn’t you think that the couple were Americans, and that Americans had somehow resumed the un-American custom of slavery? The couple are a Long Island couple, a New York couple, a millionaire couple. They live in a “swank Long Island neighborhood,” a “tony north shore community,” and are exactly like the villains on TV, until you get into the story and find that they’re named Mahender and Varsha Sabhnani, at which point you say “Aha!,” realizing that they’re from India, where slavery in many forms is still traditional, and that while America’s rich do have an appetite for cheap labor, they haven’t gone that far.

See Brenda Walker on an almost exactly similar case here. A slightly different case involving a Filipino couple is here, a different kind of slavery involving Albanian Gypsies can be seen here, and Carl Horowitz’s overview of this phenomenon is here.

Open Border Zealots Hagel/Bloomberg may siphon Open Borders support!

Chuck Hagel is considering an independent presidential run with New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Personally, I think it is very unlikely they’d do as well as Perot did –even with similar spending(which moneybags Bloomberg could easily manage).

Just so VDARE.COM readers understand what Hagel is about, look at a story about some of his recently proposed legislation:

Joining several proposals already on the Congressional table is one from Sens. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) that, like some others, includes a provision to allow more of the controversial visas.

Their bill also would remove the annual cap of 20,000 for holders of advanced degrees and allow exemptions for H-1B applicants with “medical specialty certification based on post-doctoral training and experience in the United States.”

What it would mean is that the major party candidates would be competing for a voter base that was even more prone to immigration restriction than usual–because with their stands, Bloomberg and Hagel won’t attract any of the folks concerned about immigration restriction–except the most ill-informed and superficial(Hagel does have good hair which in the era of TV is worth some votes).

I expect this is a bluff to get support for McCain or Giuliani–who in reality are more inclined to compromise on social issues like immigration or abortion rights than the religious right would like.
