Dongfan Chung is a naturalized citizen who worked as an aerospace engineer for Rockwell and Boeing.

He was recently charged on numerous counts of espionage-related crimes. If prosecutors documents are accurate, he stole secrets for his love of country — Red China, that is.

“I don’t know what I can do for the country. Having been a Chinese compatriot for over 30 years and being proud of the achievements by the people’s efforts for the motherland, I am regretful for not contributing anything,” Chung allegedly wrote one of his Chinese contacts after shipping the manuals.

“I would like to make an effort to contribute to the Four Modernizations of China.”

The Four Modernizations was a national campaign that began in the late 1970s in China to bolster agriculture, industry, science, technology and national defense.

Chung’s spy activity was discovered during an investigation into another Chinese agent, Chi Mak, an immigrant who similarly acted out of his loyalty to China.

According to the Pew Hispanic Center, non-Hispanic whites will be a minority by 2050:

 Non-Hispanic whites will become a minority in America and the Hispanic population will triple in size in less than 50 years if immigration flows carry on at the current rate, according to a new study published today by the Pew Hispanic Center.

Even if new restrictions are placed on immigration, immigrants will be responsible for more than 70% of the nation’s population growth by 2050 as the native population ages and its birth rate declines, the study found, basing its findings on past trends, present conditions, and factors that could affect future behavior.

Of course, making those predictions was considered racist. I assume Passel and Cohn’s prediction isn’t racist, because they have no plan to  stop it, don’t think it can be stopped, even “if new restrictions are placed on immigration” and presumably, as employees of the Pew Hispanic Center, expect to enjoy it. We at VDARE.com, on the other hand, don’t welcome this at all.

Another Flag Issue for Obama?

Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama already has an issue with wearing American Flag lapel pins, and even with putting his hand over his heart when the American National Anthem is playing. It will be interesting to see how he’ll react (if at all) to the flag hanging in one of his new campaign offices in Houston, Texas.

Yep, that’s right — that is the national flag of Cuba hanging on the wall with none other than Che Guevara superimposed on it.

USA Today reports:

The U.S. population will soar to 438 million by 2050 and the Hispanic population will triple, according to projections released Monday by the Pew Research Center.

The latest projections by the non-partisan research group are higher than government estimates to date and paint a portrait of an America dramatically different from today’s.

The projected growth in the U.S. population — 303 million today — will be driven primarily by immigration among all groups except the elderly.

“We’re assuming that the rate of immigration will stay roughly constant,” says Jeffrey Passel, co-author of the report.

Even if immigration is limited, Hispanics’ share of the population will increase because they have higher birth rates than the overall population. That’s largely because Hispanic immigrants are younger than the nation’s aging baby boom population. By 2030, all 79 million boomers will be at least 65 and the elderly will grow faster than any other age group.

The projections show that by 2050:

•Nearly one in five Americans will have been born outside the USA vs. one in eight in 2005. Sometime between 2020 and 2025, the percentage of foreign-born will surpass the historic peak reached a century ago during the last big immigration wave. New immigrants and their children and grandchildren born in the USA will account for 82% of the population increase from 2005 to 2050.

•Whites who are not Hispanic, now two-thirds of the population, will become a minority when their share drops to 47%. They made up 85% of the population in 1960.

•Hispanics, already the largest minority group, will more than double their share of the population to 29%.

•Blacks will remain 13% of the population. Asians will go to 9% from 5%.

Nobody ever, never, ever thinks about this, but how is affirmative action going to work when the beneficiaries outnumber the benefactors? It’s exactly like the social security problems down the road as the retiree to worker ratio rises, but we’ve all seen millions of words about that and practically nothing about the analogous affirmative action problem.

On Sunday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the current Prime Minister of Turkey, was visiting his outsourced brethren in Germany, much as Presidente Felipe Calderon checks up on his expat Mexicans residing here in the USA.

Turkey currently gets $7.5 billion in remittances annually, so the Turkish PM doesn’t want his boys forgetting about the dear homeland. Turks’ cultural adjustment to a new country could be bad for his cash flow of free money. Ergo Erdogan’s anti-assimilation remarks:

A crowd of 16,000 expatriate Turks cheered Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a vast indoor auditorium in Germany on Sunday as he told them to resist assimilation into the West.

The political rally by Germany’s biggest ethnic minority upset German politicians, who objected to a major public event on German soil being advertised on posters in Turkish only.

Erdogan indirectly addressed those concerns, saying it was right for Turkish immigrants to learn German and other languages so they could integrate, but wrong to abandon their Turkish heritage and assimilate.

“Assimilation is a crime against humanity,” he told the crowd. Many Turks had travelled from France, Belgium and the Netherlands to hear his hour-long address in the shiny venue, the Koelnarena.

Turkey is the nation of 71 million Muslims that wants to be accepted into the European Union.

McCain a ‘True Conservative,’ Bush Says

John McCain is a “true conservative,” President Bush says, although the likely Republican presidential nominee may have to work harder to convince other conservatives that he is one of their own.

McCain “is very strong on national defense,” Bush said in an interview taped for airing on “Fox News Sunday.” “He is tough fiscally. He believes the tax cuts ought to be permanent. He is pro-life. His principles are sound and solid as far as I’m concerned.”[More]

If John McCain thinks the tax cuts ought to be permanent, how come he voted against them twice? If McCain is pro-life, (one of those non-war related issues that he doesn’t “care about”) how come he passed the  McCain-Feingold bill, which is more or less targeted at the National Right To Life Committee?

And finally, if McCain is a conservative, why is George Bush endorsing him.
