Perhaps Obama has already turned down Clinton for Veep …

..because she’s not a white male?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary hasn’t already dispatched some trustworthy elder statesman such as George Mitchell to sound out Obama about an Obama-Clinton ticket, only to have Obama say he can’t give Hillary the Veep slot because he needs a white male as a running mate.

No evidence for this, of course, just pure speculation ..

Dutch Judge: Welcome, Muggers!

Wow — talk about high standards for evidence! In the Netherlands, a Somali mugger with the swag on his person was recently released by the judge for insufficient proof.

A district court in Rotterdam has acquitted a 20 year old Somali of a mugging. Although the police found his loot in his pocket, the judge wanted to see more evidence.

The victim said he was threatened by the Somali, who told him he had a revolver aimed at his back. He received a blow on his head and was forced to surrender his wallet. When the police arrived they found the wallet in the Somali’s jacket pocket. The Public Prosecutor (OM) considered robbery proven, but ran up against the judge, who wanted to see further evidence.

The judge was unmoved by the OM’s argument that the victim had given a very detailed statement and the fact that the Somali had been convicted of mugging earlier, Additionally the suspect lied in more than one court case in the past, the OM argued in vain.

Will America ever become so numbed by political correctness that this sort of craziness will become common here? I hope not, but the arc toward insanity is strong among liberal judges.

Another Michelle!

The NY Post reports on the wife of New York Lieutenant Governor David Paterson, who appears likely to move up to the governor’s mansion in the wake of Gov. Spitzer’s troubles:

1ST-LADY-IN-WAITING HAS ‘HEALTH’Y AMBITION

By MAGGIE HABERMAN

March 12, 2008 — New York’s next first lady has always made one thing clear - she’s more than just Mrs. David Paterson.

Michelle Paige is “David’s wife, but that’s not the badge she wears,” said former state Comptroller Carl McCall. “She likes to be accepted for what she is, as a professional.”

The 46-year-old mother of two is a health care-management expert who is an executive at HIP Health Plans involved with its charitable arm, after working for years as a community liaison at North General Hospital.

Somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets her salary at the hospital tripled in a few months.

Immigration and the Vice Presidential Race

For those of us concerned about immigration, the presidential race is starting to get boring–or sickening. McCain, Clinton and Obama all have rather poor records when it comes to immigration. However, once they get their parties’ nomination, the politics change just a bit.

What this means is that the leading contenders for the VP spot in both parties(other than the current presidential nominees themselves) have rather interesting track records on immigration.

According to Intrade, the leading GOP VP hopeful is Gov. Pawlenty of Minnesota–who has been openly critical of illegal immigration, despite his support for McCain. On the Democratic side, the candidate with the best chance at the VP spot after Ms. Clinton is Sen. Jim Webb of Virginia. Webb got his Democratic Senate nomination by beating the architect of expansion of H-1b visas, corporate lobbyist, Harris Miller. I’m not blown over by his record on immigration policy, but as Peter Brimelow has previously said, a Webb Vice presidency, promises to be interesting“.

What this means is that anyone serious about winning the presidency is going to have to appeal successfully to voters that are rather revolted by the current state of presidential politics.

Exclusive! John McCain’s “3 AM Red Phone” TV Spot

Below is John McCain’s upcoming response to Hillary Clinton’s TV ad about the Red Phone in the President’s bedroom ringing at 3 AM. It reassuringly details exactly what would happen if the U.S. military were ever to make The Call to Commander-in-Chief McCain’s White House bedroom.
