Ted Kennedy Awarded The Order Of The Aztec Eagle For Services To His Country…Sorry, That’s Services To Someone Else’s Country

Ted Kennedy not only was the point man for the Immigration Act of 1965, and the prime mover in the recent amnesty, but he’s always opposed any form of immigration enforcement. This is being recognized by the Government of Mexico, which has awarded him The Order Of The Aztec Eagle, a decoration awarded only to foreigners.US law on foreign decorations is complex–let’s just say that Kennedy isn’t betraying his country any more than usual, and this is probably legal.

Mexico to honor Kennedy for defending immigrants

Associated Press

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The Mexican government says it will honor U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy for his defense of immigrant rights.Order Of The Aztec Eagle

Mexico announced Friday it will award Kennedy the Aguila Azteca, the highest honor the government can bestow on foreign dignitaries.

Kennedy will be presented with a sash in Washington, according to an announcement published by Mexico’s federal registry.

Mexico says the Massachusetts Democrat has denounced injustices against migrants and “highlighted the importance of addressing illegal immigration by looking for an integral solution.”

“47 Million Uninsured Americans?” Not Exactly!

When I saw a post titled Who Is Uninsured, from the Independent Women’s Forum, I was wondering if it were about the immigration factor in the health insurance crisis, but unfortunately, no.

Sally Pipes of the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute has a 6 page briefing [PDF] on Health Insurance, and why it would be a bad idea for the United States to switch to a Canadian model. (Bad for Canada too, by the way, they need a free market health system over the border to catch what socialized medicine can’t handle.) And she’s right, of course.

But there’s no mention of the effect of legal and illegal immmigration on health costs–the bottom line is that many of the hard-core uninsured Americansaren’t Americans at all. And their health costs are covered by the taxpayer while they’re picking raisins, pears, or tomatoes, or working as day laborers in construction.

Hard, sometimes dangerous work with no employer paid health insurance–which means that the employer is benefiting from the illegal aliens emergency room healthcare.

Newspaper Sentence Of The Day:”Increasing The Number Of Black Male Librarians Has Become A Hot Topic.”

From the Wilmington (DE) News Journal:

Increasing the number of black male librarians has become a hot topic.

More fully:

According to a 2007 report from the American Library Association, of the nation’s almost 110,000 credentialed librarians — that is, librarians with master’s degrees — 19 percent are men, 4.5 percent are black, and 0.5 percent are black men. The number of Latino men is just slightly higher — 25 more nationwide.

By comparison, black women make up 4.2 percent of credentialed librarians, with Latina women at 1.4 percent.

Increasing the number of black male librarians has become a hot topic. At a recent conference in California, library association leaders dedicated a diversity program to finding ways to attract more black men to the profession.

I don’t know about these days, but a couple of decades ago when I was in the marketing research business, we always had our eye out for hiring research librarians interested in switching to a higher paying career. A librarian who was okay with numbers was a good fit for many marketing research jobs, and we paid a lot better than libraries did. Why is it blacks’ interest to get recruited into a notoriously low-paying career?

This just reminds me of something I wrote for National Review in 1995:

On campus, however, the automatic reaction whenever an embarrassing shortfall of blacks in any field is pointed out is another affirmative action campaign. For example, architecture schools have been attempting for years to recruit more blacks and Hispanics. Now, I commend a career in architecture to any young person with a trust fund, but the less privileged should remember that architecture pays wretchedly for the first decade or two (or three or four). Conservative critics of quotas often argue that lowering entrance standards for minorities is Bad, but that more intensely recruiting minorities is Good. Yet, seldom does any race-based recruitment campaign stem from a hardheaded analysis of what’s in the best interest of the minorities. Instead, affirmative action is an automatic response by white leaders to their discomfort over their Black Lack. African-Americans have enough problems of their own without taking on this new Black Man’s Burden of helping whites feel better about themselves.

England…Then America?

Since Google News is largely influenced by automated traffic tracking, it is no surprise that the only easily accessible reference to the following story appears in the Hindustan Times: Far right’s bid to stop non-white immigration gets support Prasun Sonwalkar Friday, July 18 2007

The far-right British National Party (BNP) is gaining more support for its policy of stopping “all further non-white immigration” and encouraging voluntary resettlement of Britain’s non-whites in “their lands of ethnic origin”.
The party…won another council by-election on Thursday, to gain its 17th local council seat in England.
BNP candidate David Exley defeated Tabassum Aslam of the Liberal Democrats in the Heckmondwike by-election for Kirklees council in West Yorkshire.
The Labour candidate came fourth. …BNP candidate Exley said, “I was talking common sense, it’s as simple as that.”

In the U.K.–which has a much smaller land area than New York State–local elections frequently align with national politics. The U.K. MSM has absolutely no interest in publicizing this story. All Hail, Internet!

Given the disgraceful lack of legally protected free speech in Britain, the BNP works under terrible difficulties.

But truth will out….even in America,

LA Schools Continue to Crater

In 2001, then-Mayor James Hahn declared Los Angeles a “Mexican city”, as if that were a good thing.

It hasn’t worked out that way, to say the least, and the miserable state of school performance is a top indicator.

The continuing failure of youngsters to even complete high school is the totally expected result when the government allows millions of unscholarly Mexicans to fill up a city.

More than one-third of Los Angeles Unified high school students drop out, according to a new study released Wednesday that is expected to end a long controversy over the accuracy of state dropout rates.

The district’s four-year dropout rate of 33.6 percent was well above the statewide average of 24.2 percent, sparking renewed calls to beef up academic standards in the nation’s second-largest school district.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell said the new numbers indicate the state’s schools are facing a crisis.

“The dropout rate of 24 percent is too high. It’s unacceptable and must be addressed,” he said.

Did the State Superintendent just awake from two decades of unconsciousness? The only change here is that there are newly calculated statistics — claimed to be more accurate — showing California’s schools are an unmitigated disaster because of immigration, with emphasis on Mexicans. Pretending surprise at the degree of failure doesn’t fool anyone.
