More Border Patrol Diversity

From the James Pinkerton column linked below:

“Though the Border Patrol force has become more ethnically diverse, it’s still 95 percent male. However, the recruiting drive boosted the number of female agents to nearly 1,000.”

When I read that, I swore out loud.  Look, there are plenty of big-city departments where policewomen do an excellent job as detectives and  patrol officers. But the Border Patrol is a paramilitary organization that operates in open country, in situations where they’re outnumbered and far from help. This is not the place for female officers.

One more thing about the Border Patrol’s diversity:

“[T]he expanded border agency is now 54 percent minority. Hispanics like Caballero comprise 52 percent of the agents.”

Which means that in spite of what the CBP website calls an “aggressive recruiting campaign across the Southeastern United States looking for qualified African American candidates,” the have almost no blacks, and even fewer Asians.

Hispanics Now A Majority On Border Patrol

Although a native-born Tejano, Edward Caballero grew up not liking the Border Patrol. Now he’s in it:

Growing up along the Texas border, Edward Caballero remembers fearing the green-uniformed agents of the U.S. Border Patrol.

Now, the 32-year old Caballero — a former schoolteacher in the Rio Grande Valley — is one of thousands of new agents who have swelled the force’s ranks to more than 18,000, a product of an historic recruitment blitz.

And unlike the Border Patrol of his youth, which was overwhelmingly Anglo, the expanded border agency is now 54 percent minority. Hispanics like Caballero comprise 52 percent of the agents.

”It seems like most Border Patrol officers were Anglos, and I hate to say it, not too friendly towards Hispanics,” Caballero recalled. ‘‘It’s not so much that way anymore.”
[Hispanics bolster Border Patrol | They now hold 52 percent of agents' jobs, By JAMES PINKERTON, Houston Chronicle December 29, 2008]

Pinkerton allows critics to point out some of the potential problems with this:

What critics say
But there are some concerns about thousands of new agents enforcing laws in the same communities where they have strong family ties, some that extend across the border.

”The problem I think that will come up are with people who are born and raised there, and have associates on both sides of the border. I don’t think that’s especially good from an integrity standpoint,” said James Dorcy, a director of the National Association of Retired Border Patrol Officers.

”The drug cartels are trying to do everything they can to infiltrate the Border Patrol right now,” Dorcy said.

His organization and the National Border Patrol Council worry that the rapid buildup of the Border Patrol, along with an outsourcing of background investigations of applicants to private contractors, has allowed unsuitable candidates to become federal agents.

The problems aren’t just theoretical, they’re already here–see Pinkerton’s article for recent examples, or see Hispanic Border Patrol Corruption and The Wall Street Journal & Border Patrol Corruption.

Note also that this displacement of American-Americans by Hispanic-Americans is fueled by the bilingualism requirement, see my Spanish (Or An Immigration Moratorium) For Police Officers.

Illegal Immigrants Living In Public Housing While Americans Wait

Another instance of illegals getting benefits that are supposed to go to citizens only is subsidized housing. That subject was highlighted when Obama’s illegal alien aunt, an absconder from a deportation order, was found to be ripping off the taxpayers in Massachusetts for an apartment. She had so much extra money as a result that she donated a couple hundred dollars to her nephew’s Presidential campaign. If BHO has reimbursed the taxpayers of Massachusetts, I haven’t heard of it. See Obama Campaign Knew About Aunt Zeituni In Boston.

Untold thousands of illegal immigrants live in public housing at a time when hundreds of thousands of citizens and legal residents are stuck waiting years for a spot.

Illegal immigrants make up a tiny portion of the 7.1 million people in federal housing, according to government statistics. But authorities may be unaware of thousands more, and critics say no illegal immigrant should get housing benefits.

The issue made headlines in November with news that Zeituni Onyango, an aunt of President-elect Barack Obama, was living in Boston public housing while in the country illegally. [...]

Some prospective tenants and advocates of immigration restrictions are angry about U.S. citizens waiting for housing aid that some number of illegal immigrants are enjoying.

New York City has about 260,000 people in line for housing aid. Chicago recently opened its waiting list for the first time in about 10 years and collected 259,000 names in four weeks for 40,000 slots.

“As long as that waiting list includes American citizens or legal immigrants, there’s no reason an illegal alien should occupy any of that housing,” said Rosemary Jenks, director of government relations for NumbersUSA, a group that supports curbs on immigration.

In San Diego, applicants are told they can expect to wait five to seven years. [Many illegal immigrants live in public housing , January 1, 2009]

Why should a Christmas Tree be lethal?

Resurfacing, I see that Peter Brimelow recently posted a discussion of the phrase “Russian Germans” which arose, I must admit, from ignorance on my part when discussing the immigration/cultural catastrophe at the beef-packing Plants in Greeley Colorado. “Russian-Germans” are, it appears, literally Germans immigrants to Russia generations ago, subsequently expelled.

But the key issue in Peter’s blog needs amplification. He notes Nina Markovona’s memoir and quotes

One point that emerges quickly is the sheer scale and nightmare intensity of Stalin’s purges. One of Markovna’s childhood memories is of …watching her mother and her aunt agreeing instantly to part forever after her uncle’s deportation and death, fearing that further contact would attract informers and doom their children. Her uncle’s crime: dressing a Christmas tree.

Why did Stalin’s men really care about a Christmas Tree? Alas, Kevin MacDonald appears to have the answer.

Resourcesoft Has Jobs, But Only For Immigrants On H-1B Visas

Resourcesoft is hiring programmers, but don’t bother applying unless you are an H-1B or an Indian national. In the first job ad (see below) they are seeking an “H1B Java” programmer. Just in case someone mistakenly thinks that “H1B Java” is a variant or a new version of Java (like Java 1.0), Resourcesoft further stipulates that the ideal candidate should have “an Indian Passport that is valid for at least 5 years”.

In the second job ad, which appeared last January, Resourcesoft says that they are: “currently hiring qualified candidates to come and work for us on an H1B Visa in our USA office. Resourcesoft, Inc. will work with the right candidates to sponsor their work permits.” Just in case a few naive American programmers didn’t get the hint, or didn’t read that passage, they ask applicants to mail their resumes to:  h1bhire@resourcesoft.com.

It’s interesting to note that the Resourcesoft website has job openings but none of them, at the time of this writing, contains Indian ethnocentric verbiage similar to their ads on Dice and other websites. Emails, when provided are usually something like h1bhire@resourcesoft.com. At the bottom of each job ad there is a statement that says: “Resourcesoft, Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer”.

Excluding everyone but Indian nationals hasn’t seemed to hurt Resourcesoft in terms of reputation or business. If anything it has helped the company because they were able to get certified as Minority and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise (MBE/WBE/WOB/SBE). This certification program is used to put women and minority owned businesses at the front of the line when lucrative city, state and federal government contracts are doled out.

Resourcesoft is widely acclaimed in Massachusetts. The Worcester Business Journal Online rated the company #3 in the area for Top Women-Owned Businesses” ranked by number of local employees (97 employees and $32 million in revenue). The Mass High Tech Journal praises CEO Anita Rana as “a major player in women-owned IT services companies.”

If all of this wasn’t nauseating enough, in January the Mass High Tech Journal will honor Anita Rana as one of the top ten “women in 2009 to Watch”. The cost to attend is $95 and it will be held on March 12, 2009. Corporate tables for 10 will cost you $1,300 and that includes premium seating.

Oh well, happy 2009!

Two Affirmative Action Harassment Stories You Won’t Hear About From The SPLC

Robert Habern, 55, is the Ohio State Department of Transportation “equal employment opportunity contracts coordinator,” job whose job “is to ensure that vendors with agency contracts comply with federal and state anti-discrimination laws.” That means he gets to bully companies into hiring and retaining until workers, based on the color of their skin, sex, etc. His job doesn’t require much work, so he spent his time on the job sending out “racist and sexist e-mails,” which got him suspended for two weeks without pay in October, but he’ll get to keep his job.

The story just made it to print, over two months later.

Then there was Habern’s e-mail a year ago, “joking about giving jobs to women with large breasts.” That got him a verbal reprimand, whatever that is.

And then there was his 2004 laugh riot, “for viewing inappropriate material online [on the job], including sexually explicit Web sites,” which got him a 20-day suspension without pay.

Not to worry about Habern’s latest adventure. He told an AP reporter,

Everything’s all taken care of and squared away. It’s over with. I don’t even want to bring it back up. It’s done and over with.[Ohio Anti-Bias Worker Sent Racist, Sexist E-mails, Probe Finds, Associated Press December 30, 2008.]

The problem starts with all affirmative action jobs, in that they are expressly political jobs that exist to give their holders, who are members of “protected classes,” license to make mischief and harass members of targeted classes (everyone who isn’t “protected”), and typically entail near political invulnerability. And an employer isn’t permitted to keep such job holders productively busy, so as to keep them out of mischief: That would constitute “workplace harassment.” The productive work is thus done by the very targeted classes whose work life is made miserable by the protected classes.

But Habern wasn’t merely an affirmative action hire, he was an AA officer. He must have figured that he was entitled to shoot people, if he felt like it, so why was anyone complaining?

Racist license was behind the harassment during the year just ended of Purdue University (which is part of the public, University of Indiana system) janitor-student Keith John Sampson, about whom James Fulford wrote, by a functionally illiterate, racist black female colleague, who took offense to an anti-KKK book Sampson was reading during his work breaks, and which colleague was then aided and abetted by the director of the school’s office of affirmative action (since renamed the “office of equal opportunity,” in order to confuse people), Lillian Charleston, and her deputy, Marguerite Watkins.

As Fulford wrote, Charleston was guilty of “incredible stupidity,” but having license to be guilty of “incredible stupidity,” and impose that stupidity on the non-stupid is pretty much Charleston’s job description. As one of the speakers in the video on Sampson’s case says, Sampson’s tormentors figured that they could pretty much define anything they wanted to as “racial harassment” on his part.

With the help of The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, Sampson survived, but for every Keith John Sampson who is vindicated, there are countless others who have to look for work elsewhere, just as for every Robert Habern, who got a slap on the wrist, there are countless others who are not disciplined at all, or who are even promoted. That is the character of the over 40-year-old regime of affirmative action, which the usurper-elect considers “absolutely necessary” (at least, the race-based kind), and whose protected class he plans to greatly expand.

Onboard Birthright Citizenship

A Ugandan woman just gave birth on a Boston-bound flight from Amsterdam. And it appears that two Indian doctors onboard delivered the baby.

“It was wonderful,” Dr. Paresh Thakker told the Boston Herald. “Happy New Year for everybody in the family.” [New Year’s Eve surprise: Woman gives birth on Boston-bound plane, By Jessica Heslam, December 31, 2008 ]

However, I’m sure many other passengers did not agree and recognized it as yet another instance of an immigrant giving birth to an anchor baby mid-flight.

Unfortunately, the woman just missed. According to the Boston Herald, the baby was born in Canadian airspace, and so the child is Canadian.

The Herald also claims that the woman is a legal immigrant, but I have my doubts. Either way, both mother and child appear to ringing in the New Year at taxpayer expense. Happy New Year.

Jorge G. Castaneda Op-Ed On How Obama Can Betray His Country

Call Off the Immigrant Hunt, writes Jorge G. Castañeda in the New York Times,[December 27, 2008] explaining how, with “with just a stroke of his pen”, the President-Elect can stop the border fence from being built and  make ICE stop arresting illegals. It never seems to occur to him that this might be illegal, since the President is supposed to enforce the law, and Congress has decisively rejected amnesty, and passed legislation mandating a wall to protect America. Castañeda, [Send him mail] who is a professor at NYU, was Foreign Minister of Mexico in the Fox Administration until 2003. Steve Sailer called him Mexico’s Talleyrand. In 1995 he wrote in the Atlantic that “Some Americans — undoubtedly more than before — dislike immigration, but there is very little they can do about it…”

He’s turned out to be wrong, and he doesn’t like it. Is right about Obama being willing to stop enforcement? Well, for quite a while George Bush managed it.
