There is considerable puzzlement in the Blogosphere (but not of course in the MSM) as to how President Obama could possibly believe that America is

“…one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

(For once I entirely agree with Jonah Goldberg. The MSM would have crucified Bush for such a blunder. Remember Dan Quayle’s Potatoe?)

Obama may have a case of Dyscalculia. Or some other serious educational deficiency.

…doesn’t show much affection for…numbers. That doesn’t mean he’s bad with numbers, just that his mind follows paths that are more verbal than quantitative.

There is actually plenty of evidence of mathematical ability in his heritage. His mother was a math major. And his half brother on his father’s side holds a Master’s from Stanford in physics, - according to Steve, he makes his living in the field.

This is not the first time Obama has faltered over quantitative concepts. (Frankly, I relate. Before dreary work experience eroded the tendency, I would make the same mistakes myself.)

However, there is a much simpler explanation.

To Obama, White, Christian America – which he dislikes – simply does not really count. (This attitude is also at the root of most MSM discussion of the Hispanic vote too.) In his nonquantitative mind, Americans Muslims and American Christians are in a sense of equal weight.

Why should Christian America weigh with Obama? It has never obviously impinged on his life.

The answer of course is that without America’s (possibly suicidal) Christian conscience, Obama would now be using his charm as a bar tender in Hawaii. If he existed at all.

By the wonderfully simple process of setting up a Google news alert it is possible see that the Federale blog is correct in pointing out that fashion has a lot to do with law enforcement. Right now the fashion is “hate” crimes and numerous style-conscious law enforcement outfits are searching eagerly for them.

A case in Omaha is a lucid demonstration of one reason why these laws are going to be dangerous for whites. Consider

Apparently some local louts decided to get into the Protection business. They caused damage at local businesses, but one of them was caught. Because some or all of these operations were owned by immigrants, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine is considering adding a hate crime charge, much to the delight of one of the victims:

Har K. Dev …and a few of the other businessmen want to see a hate crime charge added to Peck’s sheet. “He went to this, we are Indian, this Indian store, then they went to Mediterranean, then they went to Chinese and some Koreans, so that proves that it’s a hate crime.”

Of course what it might prove is that these businesses prefer to deal in cash, but there is a serious implication here.

If an extortionist realizes penalties are higher if he targets a minority business, won’t that encourage him to target businesses owned by whites instead?

As The Kvetcher says, hate crime legislation is about putting certain social elements in a privileged position. It

makes one person’s blood sweeter than another’s.

And who knows what these regulations might be distorted into, given ambitious fashion-conscious prosecutors and ethnocentric judges?
