The Army Didn’t Want To Appear Too “Anti-Muslim”

The Fort Hood shooter was not as assimilated to American values as the protectors of diversity would have you believe.

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused.

In response, Hoekstra issued a document preservation request to four intelligence agencies. The letter, dated November 7th, was sent to directors Dennis Blair (DNI), Robert Mueller (FBI), Lt. Gen Keith Alexander (NSA) and Leon Panetta (CIA).

Hoekstra said he is “absolutely furious” that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan’s attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News.

“This is a law enforcement investigation, in which other agencies–not the CIA–have the lead,” CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said in a response to ABC News. ” Any suggestion that the CIA refused to brief Congress is incorrect.” [Officials: U.S. Aware of Hasan Efforts to Contact al Qaeda,November 9, 2009 ]

How curious that information about Hasan’s fondness for terrorism is being squelched.

Another item of jihadist evidence is the card which Hasan handed out along with Korans (reported by Atlas): It reads SoA under his name, meaning “Soldier of Allah.”

Furthermore, the feigned shock of the Army that Muslims in the American military would go jihad is belied by the list from WND noting “At least a dozen other Muslim soldiers have been convicted of terrorism or espionage since 9/11.” If the military doesn’t think there is a Muslim terrorist problem in its ranks, then it is not paying attention or is in serious denial.

  • NAVY SIGNALMAN HASSAN ABUJIHAAD last year was convicted of tipping off al-Qaida to battlegroup movements in the Persian Gulf, including disclosing classified documents detailing the group’s vulnerability to terror attack
  • ARMY RESERVIST JEFFREY LEON BATTLE in 2003 pleaded guilty to conspiring to wage war against the U.S., confessing he enlisted “to receive military training to use against America”
  • ARMY RESERVIST SEMI OSMAN in 2002 was arrested for providing material support to al-Qaida and pleaded guilty to weapons charges after agreeing to testify against other terror suspects
  • MARINE ABDUL RAHEEM AL-ARSHAD ALI trained at a suspected al-Qaida camp and was charged with selling a semiautomatic handgun to Osman
  • ARMY SGT. ALI “THE AMERICAN” MOHAMED trained Green Berets at the elite Swick warfare school at Fort Bragg before stealing classified military secrets for al-Qaida and helping plan the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Africa
  • ARMY SGT. HAMMAD ABDUR-RAHEEM in 2004 was convicted of terror-related charges
  • ARMY SPC. RYAN G. ANDERSON in 2004 was convicted of leaking military intelligence to al-Qaida terrorists, including sensitive information about the vulnerabilities of armored Humvees
  • ARMY SNIPER JOHN ALLEN MUHAMMAD was sentenced to death after fatally shooting 10 in the nation’s capital a year after the 9/11 attacks
  • FORMER ARMY LINGUIST AHMED FATHY MEHALBA in 2005 was convicted of stealing secret documents listing, among other things, the names of al-Qaida detainees from Gitmo
  • SENIOR AIRMAN AHMAD AL-HALABI in 2004 was convicted of mishandling classified documents as an Arabic linguist at Gitmo
  • ARMY CAPT. JAMES “YOUSEF” YEE in 2003 was formally charged with mishandling classified information – including maps of a new Gitmo facility – as a Muslim chaplain at Gitmo.

Furthermore, TheReligionOfPeace.com (known for keeping count of deaths at the hands of jihadist Muslims) notes that the Sons of Allah are winning in terms of killing infidels. Only one death can be chalked up to “backlash” and that was immediately after 9/11.

Muslims Cry “Backlash” in Dallas

The fear of “backlash” — not even the real thing — among immigrants is a continuing interest of the dinosaur media. Whenever there is a horrific crime or terror attempt committed by a diverse person, the MSM visits the “affected community” (members of the immigrant tribe) to record every worry about the nation they joined voluntarily.

Dallas-area Muslims fear backlash from arrests tied to terror plot, Dallas Morning News, October 19, 2009

North Texans were both angry and relieved last month when federal agents arrested a Jordanian teenager in a failed plot to blow up a Dallas skyscraper.

But for area Muslims, the arrest of 19-year-old Hosam “Sam” Smadi evoked yet another emotion - fear.

“Being a Muslim in America today is not easy,” said Hadi Jawad, a longtime Dallas business owner and a volunteer at the Dallas Peace Center. “We feel under siege. There is open season on our faith. Muslims are painted with a broad brush.”

So why live in a society where you are so disliked? Islam touts the worldwide ummah as a universally welcoming community to those of the faith. Seriously, if America is so hateful, why not leave?

Reporters never ask that question.

Jawad and other Muslims praise the work of law enforcement in arresting Smadi, as well as two other terrorism suspects in New York and Illinois. But because of all three suspects’ Islamic faith, they say the arrests cast aspersions on Islam that hearken back to the atmosphere that existed immediately after 9/11.

Though most area Muslims are quick to say the mood of the country has not returned to that bitter level, most add that their lives here would be practically unbearable if any Muslim terrorist were to carry out another attack on American soil

“We have to work toward a common yardstick of justice, but we are just one catastrophic incident away from the post-9/11 atmosphere and even worse,” said Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Washington, a Muslim civil rights organization. “We have to accept the double standards, as bad as they are. That’s just the fact, unfortunately.”

So if Osama nuked Houston, say, Muslims residing in Texas would be concerned about how the “backlash” would affect their comfy lives, not the fact that presumably thousands of citizens in their adopted home would be killed.

“The average American thinks it must be the religion” that pushes Muslim extremists, Elibiary said. “There must be something about them. That sentiment has been there since 9/11, and it hasn’t gone anywhere.”

Muslims read the Koran and other Islamic scriptures, which urge the faithful to murder non-believers. The Koran has at least 109 verses advocating war with infidels. If Americans don’t trust Muslims, they have good reason.

A Dutch poll last year found a majority of citizens agreed that admitting large groups of Muslim immigrants was “the biggest mistake in Dutch history”. Every non-Muslim country that has permitted Islamic immigration regrets it.

And if there is “backlash,” the Sons of Allah have only their behavior to blame.

Murdered Officer’s Widow Sues City of Houston and Police

Houston PD Sergeant Joslyn Johnson is a brave woman to be taking on City Hall while she is still working for the Police Department. Her husband Officer Rodney Johnson (pictured) was killed in 2006 by a previously arrested illegal alien. The killer, Juan Quintero, had been deported in 1999 for indecency with a child, but returned to Houston, perhaps because of its kind-to-alien-criminals sanctuary policy.

Joslyn Johnson is suing the City of Houston, the Houston Police Department and Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt. Her husband was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant during a traffic stop in 2006. Juan Quintero is serving a life sentence for the murder.

In March of this year, an El Salvadoran national who was in the country illegally shot Officer Rick Salter during a drug raid. Salter spent months recovering. Then in June, a suspected illegal immigrant killed Officer Henry Canales during an undercover sting in southwest Houston.

Joslyn Johnson says these are prime examples of a breakdown in the system that’s putting officers’ lives at risk, and she hopes her lawsuit will bring changes in the department. [...]

In the lawsuit, which names Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt as the defendant, Joslyn Johnson claims, “The Houston Police Department failed to discover Quintero-Perez’s criminal alien status and failed to report him to federal immigration authorities despite detaining him or having him in custody on at least three separate occasions.”
[Slain officer's widow sues HPD, City of Houston, KTRK-TV Houston, September 22, 2009]

The City of Houston still is not serious about the safety of the public and its police force, even after the deaths of two officers and the near-fatal shooting of another, not to mention crimes against citizens like murder victim Tina Davila. It has not implemented 287(g), even though a TV station’s investigation found around 400 illegal immigrants were charged with crimes in Harris County every month.

For MSM, 9/11 Is about Anti-Muslim Backlash and Islamic Victimhood

“Backlash” against immigrants is a favorite topic of the liberal media to advance its agenda of bashing America and squashing any resistance to multiculturalism through intimidation and propaganda. When a Korean college student mass-murdered dozens at Virginia Tech, reporters quickly searched out Korean immigrants to uncover incidents of violence of angry Americans against Koreans in retaliation. Nada. There were none.

(See my various blogs about “backlash”.)

In fact, there are so few “backlash” crimes that the media has been forced to report on the “fear” of backlash, as if that were a valid subject for journalists.

Hey, I have a fear that hostile Muslim immigrants will set off a nuke in my city. Anyone over at the Associated Press interested in my deeply felt feelings? No?

We are now observing the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by jihadist Muslims who killed 3,000 people. Loyal Americans use the occasion to reflect on the loss of life and the stubborn enemy we still face. But in AP offices, busy adherants of diversity cooked up a formulaic, emotional propaganda piece about fearful Muslims cowering in their houses because of the “backlash” from mean-spirited Americans: US Muslims: backlash fear builds each 9/11 [AP, September 10 2009]

“There is the dread of leaving the house that morning. People might stare, or worse, yell insults.”

People staring and verbal insults? Oh, the horror!

“Prayers are more intense, visits with family longer. Mosques become a refuge.

Eight years after 9/11, many U.S. Muslims still struggle through the anniversary of the attacks. Yes, the sting has lessened. For the younger generation of Muslims, the tragedy can even seem like a distant memory. “Time marches on,” said Souha Azmeh Al-Samkari, a 22-year-old student at the University of Dayton in Ohio.

Yet, many American Muslims say Sept. 11 will never be routine, no matter how many anniversaries have passed.

“I get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every year,” said Nancy Rokayak of Charlotte, N.C., who covers her hair in public. “I feel on 9/11 others look at me and blame me for the events that took place.”

The Muslims interviewed are highly self-absorbed and not interested in the daily carnage racked up by their fellow religionists in the name of Islam. They would rather play the victim, despite their extreme inappropriateness for that role.

Muslim writer Shaila Abdullah mouths the message that the press promotes: “Muslims are a victim of the 9/11 tragedy as much as anyone else because our religion was hijacked that day.” [Austin author attempts to convey essence of Islam, post 9/11]

What a disgusting comment from an immigrant living a safe middle-class life in America. She is typical in that she wants all the benefits of this country and none of the responsibility for the flavor of diversity she espouses. The Koran and other Muslim books have plenty of admonitions to slaughter the infidel, which Muslims acted upon during 9/11. But she wants her religion to be regarded as the “religion of peace” — which it most certainly is not. The website TheReligionOfPeace.com has kept a detailed list and running count of Islamic terror attacks since 9/11 — now reaching over 14,000.

Forget Muslims’ bogus complaints; a 2006 FBI survey of crimes against ethic groups found that Muslims were underrepresented as victims, contrary to the propaganda. An Investors Business Daily piece summed up the findings in Hyping Hate Crime Vs. Muslims:

“In 2006, a whopping 66% of religiously motivated attacks were on Jews, while just 11% targeted Muslims, even though the Jewish and Muslim populations are similar in size. Catholics and Protestants, who together account for 9% of victims, are subject to almost as much abuse as Muslims in this country.

Last year’s anti-Islamic hate crimes totaled 156. While just one hate crime is one too many, that’s a 68% drop from 2001.

The FBI report gives lie to CAIR’s alarmist narrative of “Islamophobic” lynch mobs marching on mosques across America. In reality, Americans have been remarkably, and admirably, tolerant and respectful of Muslims and their institutions since 9/11.”

Unsurprisingly, there’s little MSM reporting about Jews’ reasonable fears about Muslim attacks on synagogues, even though there’s a lot of that going around. (One exception was the recent NY Post item about a kick-ass Second Amendment rabbi: Go ahead, make my high holiday.)

The dinosaur MSM is stuck on Muslims as victims and does not care that many of them despise western civilization and won’t be happy until we are either dead or brainwashed into their religiously tinged fascism.

Gang-Raping Liberian Arraigned in Arizona Courtroom

The case of the four Liberian refugee boys accused of raping an eight-year-old girl is moving forward, with the oldest boy being charged as an adult and his plea being entered Monday morning.

Steven Tuopeh, the 14-year-old Liberian youth accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl, was arraigned this morning in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Dressed in jail stripes, Tuopeh appeared in court on a television uplink from jail. And although he answered questions in English, a court-appointed interpreter stood at his side, translating the proceedings into a dialect called Liberian English.

Commissioner Brian Reed entered a mandatory not-guilty plea in Tuopeh’s behalf on eight counts: kidnapping, attempted sexual conduct with a minor, four counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of sexual assault that could be converted to sexual conduct with a minor.
[Not-guilty plea entered in alleged rape of Phoenix girl, 8, Arizona Republic, August 10, 2009]

(For more details, see Liberians Residing in Arizona Fret over “Backlash” in Gang Rape of Child.)

The locally residing Liberians are still in damage-control mode and are making excuses for an inexcusable crime: Family friend: Liberian boy raised in refugee camp.

A Liberian teenager charged as an adult in the alleged gang rape of an 8-year-old girl in Phoenix pleaded not guilty Monday, as details of the boy’s former life in an Ivory Coast refugee camp emerged.

Yarsiah Sirleaf, who is now a neighbor of the teen in Phoenix and used to teach him Sunday school, told The Associated Press that the boy lived in the camp for about a decade and went through a daily struggle to eat.

This horrific crime is another example showing that psychologically traumatized children and adults should not be admitted as refugees. At the very least, such people should be permitted entry only if some responsible agency agrees to provide appropriate long-term psychological counseling. And even that precaution may not be enough to protect the public. It is completely irresponsible of the government to import thousands of future criminals and just dump them on unsuspecting communities.

Another victim of a criminal refugee was Marilyn Bethell, who was murdered by a deeply disturbed Sudanese, Gareng Deng, whose life was one long violent rap sheet ever since he arrived. Three of the four Roanoke kidnappers were African refugees.

War-traumatized children may be unable to put aside a deep desire for revenge. An estimated 90 percent of the “Lost Boys” of Sudan suffer from PTSD, which can result in drug abuse, depression or violence.

In addition, the refugees’ home cultures may be incompatible with our values; for example, Liberia made rape illegal only three years ago and the crime is still endemic there. Of all the people we could invite into the national community, surely Liberians would fall at the bottom of the list of desirables. Even so, the Refugee Industrial Complex is powerful, and highly placed do-gooders want many more.

Following is a recent television report about the Liberian rape case: Muslim Family Disowns 8 Year Old Girl For Being Raped.

Liberians Residing in Arizona Fret over “Backlash” in Gang Rape of Child

In July, four Liberian boys, aged 9 to 14, allegedly gang-raped an eight-year-old Liberian girl in Phoenix after luring her to a shed with the promise of gum. The boys are Liberian refugees. Public outrage about the crime was increased even more when the girl’s father reportedly blamed the child for bringing shame upon the family.

Now the Liberian immigrants are worried that Americans might think that their culture is unduly barbaric.

In fact, “backlash” is a word used to describe Americans recognizing the particular cultural pathology of an immigrant group: [Liberians in AZ worry about backlash in rape case, San Francisco Chronicle, July 31, 2009].

Leaders of Arizona’s Liberian community said Sunday they’re worried about stereotypes of the West African nation and potential backlash against its people in the aftermath of an 8-year-old girl’s alleged rape by four boys.

The leaders spoke of their concerns to a congregation of Liberians during a Sunday church service at Africa Faith Expressions in west Phoenix. The girl’s family is among its members.

Police say four boys, ages 9 to 14, lured the girl to an empty storage shed July 16 with the promise of chewing gum. Investigators say the boys then restrained the girl and took turns sexually assaulting her.

All the children are Liberian refugees.

On that “stereotype” thing, New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristoff made a good case that Liberian culture indeed condones rape on a massive scale: After Wars, Mass Rapes Persist [May 20, 2009].

In Liberia, sexual predation during the civil war was “normal.” One major survey found that 75 percent of women had been raped - mostly gang-raped, with many suffering internal injuries.

The incidence of rape has dropped since then but is still numbingly high. An International Rescue Committee survey in 2007 found that about 12 percent of girls aged 17 and under acknowledged having been sexually abused in some way in the previous 18 months.

Then there is the age of the victims. Of the 275 new sexual violence cases treated between January and April by Doctors Without Borders in Liberia, 28 percent involve children aged 4 or younger, and 33 percent involve children aged 5 through 12.

“The rape of little children is common,” said Oretha Brooks, a social worker at the excellent Duport Road Clinic in Monrovia. “It happens on a daily basis.” She introduced me to Wynnie, a 9-year-old girl in her waiting room who had been raped twice.

As of Census 2000, 39,030 Liberian-born persons resided in the United States.

The “Better Life” Sought on a Jersey Horse Farm Didn’t Work Out

The backstory on the zinger of a illegal alien crime apologia quoted below is this: Several Hispanics worked at a New Jersey horse farm and an argument ensued after an evening of drinking. At the end, two men had been hacked to death by machete in murders local police called among the grisliest they had ever seen. The man arrested after escaping to Texas was illegal alien Carlos Reyes of Guatemala (shown).

Here’s the happy talk about illegal aliens (not all of whom are machete killers!): Slain workers sought better life for families, MSNBC, March 15, 2009.

Now the leader of a nonprofit social services group wants to make sure their brutal deaths don’t reflect poorly on the area’s large, often hidden population of Latino immigrants.

“This is a tremendous tragedy and the whole Latino community is feeling the pain,” Angela Mateo Gonzalez, executive director of Servicios Latinos de Burlington County, said Wednesday.

The nonprofit group assists immigrant workers and is helping family members of the two victims raise money for their burial.

Gonzalez described the victims as hardworking immigrants who had lived and worked on the Sterling Chase Horse Farm on Highland Road for the last four to five years. Their coworkers and bunkmates, Carlos and Cesar Reyes, also had traveled to the United States from Honduras.

Carlos Reyes, 41, was charged Wednesday with two counts of murder for allegedly hacking Aguilar and Morales-Maldonado to death with a machete. Authorities said Cesar Reyes, 38, witnessed the murders and afterwards fled with his brother to Texas.

Investigators said the murders were the result of an alcohol-fueled argument between Carlos Reyes and the two victims. The subject of the argument is still undetermined, authorities said.

Gonzalez said the victims’ family members aren’t sure what sparked the dispute.

“All we know is that Carlos had a short temper,” Gonzalez said. “They had lived together for four years, but [Carlos] didn’t handle arguments very well. We’re so disappointed two individuals had to die this way. It’s horrible.”

She said immigrants often have problems with alcohol, and getting them to seek treatment is difficult.

“Prevention is something we try to teach, but a lot of individuals develop addictions to alcohol in their home countries,” Gonzalez said.

True! Because drinking to excess is considered macho and cool in Hispanic cultures. One way to demonstrate genuine manhood is to slug down 12 beers at a sitting, in fact.

Continuing…

She urged Burlington County residents not to think ill of immigrant workers because of the killing.

“We’re very sorry this tragedy occurred, but we do not want people to perceive [Hispanic immigrants] differently. People from all nationalities commit crimes so let’s not start labeling,” Gonzalez said.

She also said the men should not be condemned for being undocumented immigrants. She said immigrants like them fill unwanted jobs in America and work harder than most job holders.

As I’ve noted before, ethnic mouthpieces often step in after a gruesome illegal alien crime to head off a “backlash” by citizens against foreign lawbreakers. That word is not used in this case, but the intent is surely to focus Americans’ alarm about a hideous machete murder into the “tragedy” aspect rather than it being a preventable crime that will cost citizens a bundle in trials and incarceration.

Had the government done its Constitutional job of maintaining borders and sovereignty, machete enthusiast and mean drunk Carlos Reyes would still be in lovely Guatemala, but we are not supposed to reflect on that detail.

Radio Shack Drinks Mexican Soccer Kool-Aid

Did Fort-Worth-based Radio Shack lose its mind completely to create a grossly anti-American ad campaign pandering to Mexican soccer fans? Did the company think it has too many American customers and needed to insult them?

Radio Shack apparently realized its screw-up and pulled the plug, but the ad below did appear in a Mexican sports daily and invited soccer fans to go to their nearest Radio Shack to get an anti-American voodoo doll to torture.

The Mexican sports daily Record had published an ad for the campaign on Tuesday, printing coupons for fans to clip and redeem at their local Radio Shack store for a voodoo-doll likeness of a U.S. player.

An illustration showed a pair of scissors slicing off the leg of a doll in a U.S. jersey; the doll grimaced in pain with its arms covered in bruises, as stuffing leaked from its No. 10 jersey, stuck with pushpins.

Record said it hoped young people would gather around televisions for the match and “apply punishments to our rivals,” giving Mexico an edge to end a decade of winless play versus the Americans on U.S. soil.
[Radio Shack cancels Mexico soccer-voodoo campaign, El Paso Times, Jan 28, 2009]

As I noted in U.S. Creams Mexico in Soccer, Mexicans show their hatred of Americans particularly strongly on the soccer field — like the Los Angeles match where local Mexicans drowned out the US national anthem with noise.

The company may fear a patriotic backlash like the one that clobbered Absolut Vodka after it published a reconquista fantasy map of Mexico expanded into the American Southwest.

Let’s not let them get away with this unnoticed. Contact information for Radio Shack’s corporate offices is here. E-mail: media.relations@RadioShack.com.

Fear-of-Backlash Eruption in Houston

Here’s another bogus backlash story from the permissive, open-borders-loving press. A convicted cop killer gets a cushy sentence of life in prison and the MSM are worried that the case might cause citizens to reflect negatively on the crimes committed by illegal aliens.

Ya think?

Quintero was in the country illegally when he killed Johnson. He’d already been deported once after he was convicted for indecency with a child.

Rafael Perez, a Houstonian who became a naturalized U.S. citizen Wednesday, said he worried the verdict would negatively affect other immigrants.

“People are going to think that people who are trying to do things the correct way, that they shouldn’t have a citizenship,” Perez said.
[Could the Quintero verdict have damaging effects for immigrants?, By Courtney Zubowski  KHOU-TV, May 21, 2008]

How often do you hear conflation paranoia so elegantly voiced?! Anyway, it’s the press that has a hard time differentiating between legal and illegal immigrants, not the public.

Meanwhile, the stone-cold killer is surprised at his good fortune:

Almost two years ago, Juan Leonardo Quintero predicted in a jail house interview that he would be sent to the death chamber for shooting Houston police officer Rodney Johnson.

“I was wrong,” he said Wednesday from a Harris County jail a day after he was sentenced to life in prison without chance of parole. [Quintero didn’t expect to be spared after slaying, By Rosanna Ruiz And Brian Rogersm Houston Chronicle, May 21, 2008

The article included informative statistics about the frequency of the death penalty against cop killers in Harris County.

Since 1990, at least nine men have been sentenced to death in police officer slayings. At least four others have been sentenced to life in prison, although the law has continued to change regarding the minimum amount of time they have to spend behind bars.

A death sentence should be understood by criminals as automatic for murdering an officer. Otherwise the job of police will become even more hazardous than it already is.

Chandler Rapist Focuses Awareness of Crime Epidemic

The evil character recently arrested for child rape in Chandler, Arizona, is an illegal alien. Santana Batiz Aceves preyed upon children, raping four girls aged 12 to 15 and attempting to assault two others.

As Chandler residents regroup following a man’s arrest in the rapes that terrorized the city for 18 months, immigration advocates are bracing for the angry tide over illegal immigration to wash over the Valley again.

From talk radio to lunch-time talk, Santana Batiz Aceves’ status as a Mexican national who was deported twice before his weekend arrest in the “Chandler Rapist” case will be cited by both those who advocate a hard-line stance on immigration and those who are sympathetic to the plight of undocumented immigrants.

Experts agree that as details of the reported series of attacks on young girls emerge, they will harden the public’s attitude toward illegal immigrants - especially [Arrest in Chandler Rapist case may fuel debate, Arizona Republic, Jan 14, 2008] because assaults against children are among the worst types of crimes, they say.

The article above doesn’t use the term “backlash” (such as, “Hispanic residents fear a backlash because of the crimes”), but that’s the real topic in a word.

As I’ve written before (e.g. Backlash Fears in Virginia Beach), every arrest of a non-American criminal for a horrendous crime elicits a flurry of media interest in a backlash. The idea is that we awful Americans generalize unfairly about every member of the ethnic group of the perp — with the implication that lynch mobs can’t be far behind.

But if American citizens notice the genuinely high incidence of crime among illegal aliens — particularly sexual assaults and deaths from drunk driving — what’s wrong with that? Public policy should be based on facts, not kumbaya illusions of world peace through erasing borders.

Furthermore, 12 serial sex offenders cross the U.S. border illegally every day, according to a 2006 Department of Homeland Security report. Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime and open borders endanger all citizens. The Chandler rapist is one example out of many.
